President Trump is largely known to be a Presbyterian in terms of his religious identity, but in a media interview, he said he now identifies as a nondenominational Christian.
Though I was confirmed at a Presbyterian church as a child, I now consider myself to be a non-denominational Christian, Trump told Religious News Service in a written statement, responding to the question, Do you consider yourself an evangelical Christian?
The president also stated, Melania and I have gotten to visit some amazing churches and meet with great faith leaders from around the world. During the unprecedented COVID-19 outbreak, I tuned into several virtual church services and know that millions of Americans did the same.
On Palm Sunday, Trump was among the 1.3 million who watched California megachurch Pastor Greg Lauries Palm Sunday webcast service. He also announced that he watched the Sunday service of Pastor Jentezen Franklin at Free Chapel in Georgia, and Pastor Robert Jeffress of Frist Baptist Dallas, among others, during the lockdowns.
In August, the president and first family requested to be ministered to by the Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, senior pastor of New Season Church in Sacramento, California, after the death of Robert Trump, the president's brother.
Last June, the president made an unannounced visit to McLean Bible Church in Virginia, where Pastor David Platt privately shared the Gospel with him in a forthright and compassionate manner before a public prayer during the service.
Platt, a former president of the Southern Baptist Convention's International Mission Board, explained at the time that he prayed for the president because 1 Timothy 2:1-6 urges in part that Christians pray for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.
The president and first lady Melania Trump attended a worship service together at St. Johns Episcopal Church of Lafayette Square near the White House on Saint Patricks Day last year. The couple is most often seen attending services on holidays at Bethesda-by-the-Sea when the first family is at their Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida.
In 2017, after members of the first family met with Pope Francis at the Vatican, Melania Trump confirmed that she's a practicing Roman Catholic.
During their meeting, the pontiff gave the president a split medallion held together by an olive tree, which his interpreter told Trump is "a symbol of peace."
"I am giving you this because I hope you may be this olive tree to make peace," the pope is said to have told Trump in Spanish.
"We can use peace," the president reportedly responded.
In a 2015 interview with CBN less than a month before he announced his run for president that year, Trump talked about his faith and promised that if he became president, he would be the best representative of Christians in the White House that America has seen in a long time.
First of all, Im Protestant. Im Presbyterian. Im proud of it. Im very proud of it, Trump told CBNs David Brody at the time. Believe me, if I run and I win, I will be the greatest representative of the Christians that theyve had in a long time.
In 2011, Trump told Human Events and other news outlets that he was a believer.
Also in 2011, he told CBN he attended First Presbyterian Church in Jamaica Queens, which is part of the Presbyterian U.S.A. denomination.
Some past articles and interviews listed Trump as a member of the Reformed Church of America, but later, he said he was Presbyterian. He has said he goes to church on Sunday when he can and always on Christmas, Easter, and special occasions.
Many Christians have been seeking a new Christian community.
RE: How about CATHOLICISM???
Maybe after this Pope leaves.
That's great. So does Jesus.
Sarcasm aside, i totally understand the impulse to leave a denomination. I was raised in the First Congregational church which was quite conservative. They have since become the United Church of Christ and have gone full liberal with lgbt, embracing illegal aliens, and even ordaining lesbian and gay pastors. I left them over 30 years ago but have not altered my belief in Christ and being a good Christian. I often fail but i still try.
It gets old when the most liberal person in the building is the guy giving the sermon.
Amen. Im a Bible scholar. And nowhere in the Bible is denominationalism taught or encouraged

1Co 1:12 Some of you are saying, “I am a follower of Paul.” Others are saying, “I follow Apollos,” or “I follow Peter, “ or “I follow only Christ.”
"We can use peace," the president reportedly responded.
I almost never read anything about Pope Francis so this is the first time that I have seen this information. I hope that Pope Francis is aware that President Trump started zero new wars, reduced the number of US troops from several wars and has brokered peace between four different pairs of countries leading to four different Nobel peace prize nominations. If Frances even knows about these peace initiatives, I wonder if he will give President Trump any credit.
Good for him. A personal relationship with Christ is what is most important. FWIW, Platt apologized after praying with PDJT.
Well, ostensibly Catholics are christians too, but as a recovering catholic, I speak with some authority saying that many - especially politicians - use the church of Rome as cover and concealment, failing as christians in any sense of the word.
Whenever I hear Nanny Pelosi say “I’m a Catholic,” what I hear is her mispronouncing “alcoholic.”
You can’t support abortion and homosexuality by the word of the gospel.
HEB 1:1 outlines the second very well, the first is old testament “choose life.”
“God left His Word not a denomination.”
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Never mind the 8th Commandment. I am stealing that one. LOL.
Thanks for the smile.
God left His Word not a denomination.

God did leave one person to be at the head of the church as His representative on earth, Peter.
While Peter was not a Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, Presperterian or any other demonination there was “a church” regardless of what it was called. Once Peter and all the other Apostles were gone the church seemed to drift in to different directions. Constatntine who was at the time the head of three other religions decided that the church of his mother was taking over the world and needed leadership and organization. He called together most of the bishops of Christanity and had a council where in he decided what was admissible in the Christian Church and what was not. Many doctrines that we find in scripture were codified by Constantine as Church Cannon. The new organization was no longer called “The Christian Church” but the “Universal (Catholic) Church. It pretty much existed that way for the next 800 years until the Eastern Orthodox Church was established. Orthodox simply meant that they didn’t go along with a lot of new ideas in religion. Both churches claimed the authority of Peter to administer the affairs of their church. A few hundred years later Martin Luther came along and split away from the (Now Roman) Catholic Church and claimed the same authority of Peter because he had been ordained a priest. Today we have over 45 thousand “Christian” denominations or at least churches who claim to be Christian. That is about 2-1/2 billion people.
So, I would say Donald Trump not picking out a particular denomination is wise, very wise. Wise not for political reasons but because how could he know which one is better than the other. He believes in Jesus Christ and probably feels that one church is as good as another. Until God tells one is better than another I think he is doing the wise thing. More importantly that he claimes to be a follower of Jesus Christ is more important than which church he belongs to.
Me too. I had it with these leftist mainstream churches
1 Cor. 3:4,9
When the House of God you thought you had belonged turns out to be a mobile home, it can be quite a disappointment to learn that home has left you behind. Yet, there still are places of worship remaining steadfast who proclaim, “All are Welcome.”
Yes referenced. But not encouraged.
One Lord, one faith, one baptism.
Eph. 4:5
Correct. And as Paul indicates in that passage; denominationalism is not encouraged
Nonsense. Only by contortions and twisting of Scripture does one believe that. Read 2 Cor. 11:5. about what Paul would say to YOU. Also James was the leader of the Jerusalem Church. Did not Jesus rebuke Peter and say "Get thee behind Me, Satan"?
So what?!?! I’m a non denominational Jew.
