I am not a dispy, and I do not believe the Temple HAS to be rebuilt before Jesus/Mashiach/Yeshua can return: still, my guess is that it will be.
On a separate matter, there is no evidence in the Bible persuasive to me as a historicist and a non-dispy that "the Jews" or the "the Israeli government" accept the antichrist as Messiah, or even as a good man. As this Adam Shapiro proves, SOME individual Jew can be found to accept ANYthing and ANYbody, even Arafat!
Show me a text that says the Jewish people in general, as a body, accept this antichrist either as Mashiach or as a temporal leader.
Any independent/autonomous Jewish commonwealth in Eretz Yisroel is a temple. In that sense, the 3rd temple began in 1948 and has been abuilding ever since. This IS scripturally valid.

I don't think you relize just how much this whole thing ties in with LDS doctrine. The coming of Elijah, the restoration of the Priesthood, temples, prophets. You are beating all around a bush that belongs to us and you don't even know it.
Israel rejected Christ as the savior. Thus, today Israel is looking for the Lion who will come to their rescue. The new Temple will be built on the grounds of the 2nd Temple, but the new Temple demensions are not fully known. As a matter of fact, many aspects of the new Temple are not known, and these questions will be answered by a man who will come to help Israel.

Believe me I do know it. However, you'll have to share temple space with all the other lost tribes cults who try to horn in on the promises to Abraham. Ever see the scene in Woody Allen's Take the Money and Run where two groups show up simulataneously to rob the same bank? They have the patrons vote on which group they want to rob them.
The competition of the cults to grab Israel's promises is the same scene!

A royal preisthood has already been established!
1 Peter 2:9-10 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.
