By the way, Marcuse is also the man who creates the phrase, "Make love, not war."
Yes, an excellent analysis. I lived through a good bit of the process, especially Marcuse.
Cultural Marxism is a culture of suspicion and resentment, which goes far to explain why these folks are angry all the time. Suspicion, resentment, and devotion to destruction are not good for your mental health.
From the Counterculture this came back into the universities and took them over, then from the universities into politics, where almost the entire Democrat party was taken over. Even the cultural establishment has now signed on, so if you visited a yacht club or a country club in the rich coastal states last fall you would have seen nothing but Kerry/Edwards bumper stickers.
That's because cultural marxism not only criticizes power, it seizes power, and these cultural elites all know which side their bread is buttered on. They are almost a an American Nomenklatura.
Thanks for the ping... essay is good... no great and spot on in fact.
Barbra Streisand's last hit song was several decades ago, but her name is still fresh in young, and old Americans, not because she is famous, or her hit songs are any better than say "CASEY AND THE SUN SHINE BAND" just to name one, It is the constant liberal media mentioning her name, that keeps her current. To the extent that her appearance in the new movie, the "Meet the Folkers" was built as a big deal despite of the fact that it is a lousy movie, and will fail in the box office, just mark my words.
The way I see it, they have got the microphone, and they will reach more people then a lonely voice like yours or mine. Merry Christmas

** How about making love AND war?
Why is it that to Marxists everything is a social construct except the central Marxist thesis that "oppression" and "exploitation" are wrong?
In conclusion, America today is in the throws of the greatest and direst transformation in its history. We are becoming an ideological state, a country with an official state ideology enforced by the power of the state. In "hate crimes" we now have people serving jail sentences for political thoughts. And the Congress is now moving to expand that category ever further. Affirmative action is part of it. The terror against anyone who dissents from Political Correctness on campus is part of it. Its exactly what we have seen happen in Russia, in Germany, in Italy, in China, and now its coming here. And we dont recognize it because we call it Political Correctness and laugh it off. My message today is that its not funny, its here, its growing and it will eventually destroy, as it seeks to destroy, everything that we have ever defined as our freedom and our culture.
An important point, however, is that American politcally correct totalitarianism includes a necessity for guilt and self-hatred. This is something that the totalitarianism of Third World countries do not know (instead, they espouse a form of totalitarianism patriotism and national pride).
And when they are upfront about their agenda, at least partially, they go to the Courts to have it imposed rather than be defeated democratically.
Here's who's teaching it and where:

But they have also gone into the Federal Acquisition Regulations and impose annual re-indoctrination of these PC programs on companies that do business with the federal government. Much more intrusive than court victories, now you must behave this way or lose your job. (BTW, did you hear about the blond who was at the ventriloquist show?)
PCD is the supression of other ideas without the use of logic. It's intellect-via-emotion.

Yes, and its a shame that these smaller issues don't get more attention, and that corporate America has rolled over so easily for the Left.
