A good post, except for the line about the JOOOOOOS. Yes there were and are many Jewish Marxists. But let's not forget that the grandaddy of political correctness was an I-talian named Antonio Gramsci.

Welcome to Free Republic! However, you need to read the passage you're referring to above again, and more carefully. You completely missed the context. The statement was not a slam against Jews, it was a piece of information which was necessary in order to explain why the Frankfort School members had to relocate during the Nazi period. And furthermore, that's all it was.

Ironically, you inadvertently provided your own example of politically correct intolerance, i.e. how dare the author mention "JOOOOS"!

I could not have said it better about statements of Fact. Some of this was the Talmudic impulse perverted ( The Frankfurt School, Marcuse and even the great Derrida) :

I think the whole "goth" thing is somewhere between weird and idiotic.

Actually, that picture was jacked from the D&D website of Wizards of the Coast.

"According to Lind, Horkheimer and Adorno later move to Hollywood. I had also heard of a Berkeley, CA connection as well .Ain't that Special!!"

This article highlights a very significant historical gathering.

The great proletarian revolution of 1917 turned out to be a bust. It didn't spread worldwide. What to do, how to explain? The great Marxist minds gathered to figger out how to apologize and how to conspire and explain why their grand intellectual Marxist utopianism failed to take over the world.

They decided that capitalism and free enterprise was "ingrained" in western "culture". The culture would have to be changed.

Hillary Clinton, in answering a question about socialized medicine, specifically, it is not human nature to provide for every medical contingency said, "Well, we'll have to change human nature."

This is exactly what the Frankfurt School proposed to do over time, change western culture.

Freudian psychology (guilt trips)targets rich capitalists, Montessori Schools, Rudolf Steiner Schools, and other German, Marxist based education systems, were a big result.

The topic of the article is Political Correctness, but it should be a wake up call to those who have not delved very deeply into the nefarious and sinister workings of the Marxists who have never quit.

How would you like to have been a German Marxist intellectual who has his theory of world wide revolution get debunked? How would you like to have been born in Russia and brought up in nothing but Marxism for 70 years and one day Russia is kaput, everything you were ever taught is debunked. Do you think Putin wakes up one day and says "I was wrong all my life"? No. The commies are alive and well.

It would do all Americans well to persue an examination of this insidious cultural virus.

I ask Freepers to follow some of the links presented on this thread. The commies are alive and well.

We call it "Political Correctness." The name originated as something of a joke, literally in a comic strip, and we tend still to think of it as only half-serious. In fact, it’s deadly serious. It is the great disease of our century, the disease that has left tens of millions of people dead in Europe, in Russia, in China, indeed around the world. It is the disease of ideology. PC is not funny. PC is deadly serious.

There's a lot of good material in this speech, but there are also some serious flaws. The good part is the role of Herbert Marcuse. The bad starts with the passage above. As I learned first hand from Lefty relatives almost 20 years ago, the term started as a compliment among Lefties. Lind also exagerrates the role of the Frankfurt School (aka Critical Theory) in the rise of feminism, gay activism, etc. And he confounds cultural Marxism with Stalinism. If he's not going to distinguish between the two, why speak of cultural Marxism in the first place?

It sounds like he read Pat Buchanan's The Death of the West, and The Shadow University, but little else.

my undergraduate education included a heavy dose of the frankfort school.

in addition to the frankfort school, the radical feminists build on jacques lacan and louis althusser.

althusser murdered his wife and the french authorities couldn't bear to put this communist in prison, so they stuck him in a mental hospital.
