NEW YORK - There is nothing wrong with an unpopular opinion.
Nor is there anything wrong with a subversive one, nor a crazy one. This country was founded on opinions that were deemed by the powers-that-were to be unpopular, subversive, and crazy. Dissent - even when that dissent strays from logic or humanity - is our lifes blood. But if you have one of those opinions, and you express it in public, honesty and self-respect require you to own up to it.
Unless youre Rush Limbaugh.

As a subscriber I went right to the quote in question and it's sitting there plain as day including the pull quote Olberman says was removed.
Besides this article he's written about Rush on August 22, the next three articles are dated Aug. 8, Aug. 8, and Aug. 4.
Yo, Keith. Get a job.
You sure are good at assuming.
I'm no fan of Olberman's.
I am a fan of Rush's.
That doesn't mean I am delusionary enough to think he's perfect, or to defend him when he screws up.
This is not the first time Rush has tried to make comments dissapear.
After Vince Foster died, Rush grabbed up a rumor and started broadcasting it as fact that Foster and Hillary had a 'Love Nest' apartment and that was where he was killed.
I know he did, I heard him do it.
After getting called on the story the next day, he started double talking and blathering and claiming that wasn't what he said.
I know he did, I heard him do it.
What's wrong with what he said this time?
Nothing, I agree with him, I just don't care for the Soviet style rewriting of history to claim it didn't happen.

I heard the "hillary killed vince" rumor, and I also heard Rush say "This is a rumor being spread on a financial website". He never denied mentioning this rumor, but he did correct the leftists who accused him of creating it. Limbaugh also never denied saying mother cindy was a fake and a fraud being used by the left, and other posters on this tread have stated that his original remarks are still on his website. I'll take their word over olberman's any day.
You've been sleeping since '98, you should know about the copyright wars and the reason we excerpt.
I , in turn, told off Olberman.
He simply said, and explained following Begala's rant, that the media's attempt to create a groundswell, making the Sheehan story front page akin to Burkett's claims, is not true (as in not being true to reality, skewing). There is no groundswell or following by a majority of citizens for either story. In fact a very small minority.
In short, they are both media driven stories. Rush spent 15 minutes dealing with just that. Sheesh. Would think you'd investigate further than reading a 10 word quote when hundreds were used to explain his position.
M
Olberman's talking about it because Randi Rhodes spent three full hours talking about it and still brings it up every hour on her show on Air America Radio. We now know where he gets his news.
I think he should bring up how Randi slandered everyone who lives in Texas. She said all Texans drag blacks behind their pick-up trucks. She said "that's what they do down there." At the time she was comparing the pick-up through the crosses to the dragging to death of James Byrd. Where's the transcripts of her radio shows. They ain't on her web page that's for sure.
Actually, I think olbermann is trying to start a fight with rush..if I was rush..I would ignore him..olbermann is just trying to buy some free publicity..
"I was making a distinct observation from Rush's. His was the media."
LOL - Its nice to see that you CAN have observations that are not driven by what you hear on Rush's program ...
Dosent quite fit with your post 123 though... while attempting to say you know exactly what Rush meant and how simple it is to understand, you don't bother to cite an example from Rush in support of your theory, but inject an observation of your own that is NOT what Rush meant ?
But don't let it bother you - this is all extemporaneous and noone expects you to be perfect :-)
"He simply said, and explained following Begala's rant,..."
Oh, OK, this was the explaination that came AFTER the one that came BEFORE Begala's rant ?

You know what happens when you assume?
Dosent quite fit with your post 123 though...
It is not my fault that you are too weak-minded to understand me.
"Its nice to see that you CAN have observations that are not driven by what you hear on Rush's program ..."
"You know what happens when you assume?"
I'm sorry ...was I wrong in assuming that you COULD have observations not driven by what you hear on Rush's program ? Did I give you too much credit ?
"It is not my fault that you are too weak-minded to understand me."
LOL - You might be right my friend, my psychic powers are not well developed, I have to rely on what people actually put in their posts.
If the link doesn't work, try cutting and pasting "http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_081805/home.guest.html". When I initially tried to access the site via the link, I couldn't, but I could by cutting and pasting it. At any rate, I didn't have to pay one red cent to find this on his site. All I had to do was take the time to look for it. I will add that it is now found under the "Rush 24/7 Archives" section at the left of his home page. The website archives are free, but the Audio, MP3 and DIttocam archives require membership. However, everything relating to this quote is on the free website archive. Now, it's a 4 week archive, so at some point it will drop off (said only to preempt those who may claim at that time that the material has been scrubbed.)
Thanks for that link - ( repeated here )

Part of the problem is that people kept saying it's on the site, but the normal homepage dosen't show it anywhere, so without the link you provided, it's hidden away in the pay section. If you didn't go there on the 18th you were out of luck.
Yeah, it's more a problem with the layout of the site than anything. The web archives are free, but to get them you have to click on a 24/7 archive link, so it can appear that they are pay only also.
Begala's got enough forehead for four heads.
