I have a feeling that there will be alot of us who walk away from the GOP if this insanity continues.

I hope Campbell explains himself the next time he is on Hugh Hewitt's show.

LOL! Oh, that is
priceless!"Support my Republican opponent and you will be expelled from the GOP."
That is one messed up dude.

If Jim Gilchrist wants Republican help, why doesn't Jim Gilcrhist simply join the Republican party and tell Campbell to take a flying leap?

"despite the fact that those in the GOP concerned with border security and illegal immigration are polling at over 80%." I don't get it. If this is true looks like he'd get enough support from the Republican voters to be a shoo-in. Why not run as a Republican?
To: EternalVigilance
I don't quite understand how the "expel" thing works. You register for a party, and that is it. I don't even think a party can prevent someone for running for office on a party line if they are appropriately registered for the requisite time. It does seem dunderheaded.

Well, I guess that's the end of this punk Campbell's political career.
To: EternalVigilance
Another reason it is dunderheaded, is that it gives your guy free publicity. Campbell needs a new campaign manager.

Can't see what it matters. This is California. Neither of the candidates is going to win.

If a Republican assists a non-Republican, why should that person remain in good standing with the Republican party?
To: EternalVigilance
Let him try to expel me. A-hole...

BRIEFLY IN THE NEWS
California Republicans endorse state senator
State Sen. John Campbell announced late Thursday he has been endorsed by the California Republican Party in his bid for the 48th District Congressional seat.
It's rare that the party endorses before a primary election, and the Oct. 4 special primary will be a big one, with 10 GOP candidates among the 17 congressional hopefuls on the ballot.
The state GOP endorsement tops a list of supporters that includes Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and local Republican fundraising groups the New Majority and the Lincoln Club.

That's utter crap. Gilcrist has a right to run for office however he chooses.

Alright congresscritters, play nice.
Mr. Congressman, we would really like to have someone we KNOW is strong on border security. Most of us are conservatives before being attached to ANY party. I have never voted for anyone outside of the Repub party but guess what? In any race now, if there is a more conservative third party candidate running....that is where my vote goes.
