He will slowly lose his mind (insert joke here). He will feel this coming on and it will dawn on him that he, not America, has lost. Then, it won't make any difference, because he'll be totally looney. I'd prefered he be executed, but I'm happy to know he'll go nuts.

The liberal blogs are going nuts. They are all singing praises to this jury for sparing this creep. Makes me sick.

I live in Colorado Springs, CO. Down town we have Memorial Park. It's a monument honoring all the firemen who lost their lives in the line of duty.

There's a large bronze statue of a fireman coming down a ladder with a child his is arms. Below it is a black marble wall where all their names are engraved.

On one end it has NYC Sept. 11, 2001 - and the list of names under that date takes up columns. You can't look at that and not cry your eyes out. I still do just thinking of their selfless act that cost them everything.

And this animal still lives.

In a warped sense of way, I am happy with this decision. For us to have executed him would have made him a martyr. Yes, it would be great for him to be released in the general population of one of our prisons. I suspect he would make it about 3 minutes. But, the thought of isolation for 30+ years for this sh*t wrapped in skin does sound kind of appealing. I'll gladly pay the taxes to keep this one alive.

I agree with your assessment. The bastard should have been shot in public. He'll be a living martyr as long as he's alive. If he were exefcuted, his legacy would've died with him.

My point exactly.. would you prefer death (and in this case becoming a martyr) or living the life you describe for the next 30+ years. I love the verdict actually.

If you're going to talk about Spotted Owls, it's protocol to ping them, you know. (Er, what is that regulation number ...?)

There was a feature tonight (I think it was Nightline) telling about the Colorado prison where he will be held. Aside from a few high profile criminals, most of the 400 inmates are there because they are the most violent, dangerous former inmates of our other prisons. So we have 400 extremely vicious dangerous men sitting for 24 hours per day with nothing to do but figure a way to become a hero for killing the "20th bomber". If he lasts as long as Jeffry Daumer (the cannibal), I'll be surprised.

For us to have executed him would have made him a martyr.

I'm sorry but that is just not rational. He may have been a dead martyr but now he is a live martyr. He will be celebrated as the one that America was afraid to kill. Here's the truth, he should have been sentenced to death just as a rabid dog is sentenced to death. The country is not better off because we were "fair" to this animal, in fact, to use the logic the jury used i.e that he did not physically act on 911 then the same logic would apply to Osama Bin Laden. I shudder to think what would happen should OBL ever stand before an American jury.

We really need to stop hoping the inmates in general population will do what should have been done by the jury in the first place.I'm sure some were thinking like this when they gave him life, and it just demeans the system further.

Also, I would sure hate to be one of the staff that has to deal with this jerk everyday.
