They did a huge case on Tyson and lost in court on many technical issues.

Those getting rich from the labor of illegals (select businesses and politicians) have loopholes so they can keep the money flowing. They (politicians and select businesses) make profits and we pay the bill now and in the future.

It is an obscene system and as long as they keep the “contract labor” loophole in place it will be very difficult to make a case against a large company for employing (or exploiting) illegals.

Are you a legal immigrant if you are here because you overstayed your visa?

"When the Viet Namese were arriving in the late 70s, it was said when they got off the boat they got a map to Garden City and the keys to a new Trans Am. "

The ones I knew in Texas got two jobs and today they have children with college degrees and are well established in the Middle Class.

Unlike the lazy natives who seem to be 'losing ground' in the land of opportunity.

Seems a great many got the keys to a shrimp boat off the Gulf Coast in Louisiana and Texas!

By my quick, totally unscientific calculation, they arrested 247 alleged “undocumented workers”. According to historical data, approximately 191 will actually be deported, while 49 will be released back into the community with a date to appear and no bail. The remaining 7 were found to have violent felony criminal histories and will be kept incarcerated until trial or deportation proceedings. Of the 191 deportees, 178 will be back within 30 days and working illegally somewhere else or even where they were when the dust settles on the ICE enforcement file. They will pass through the border left open by the criminal negligence of both the Legislative and Executive branches of the United States governmet.

The 49 catch and release folks will simply relocate and find other illegal work. Of the 7 held, the ACLU will get 4 out on bail and they will quickly disappear. The ACLU will get the charges thrown out against another guy based on a challenge to the warrant executed by ICE. The remaining 2 will probably enjoy free room and board for about 2 years and then be deported.

Grand totals:
247 illegals arrested.
232 back in the population.
15 effectively deported.
12,191,342 to go.
Great Work!!!

Until they close the Mexican turnstile and secure the border; this is just window dressing...

And to think those fences & walls on BOTH borders could have been built by now if Bush had got on the stick, deployed the Army Corps of Engineers and started on 9/12/2001 when he had a 90% approval rating.

shaking my head in disgust...

Can you say, “catch and release?”

A good question. I'll have to drive by the nearest Home Depot and look to see if any of the campesinos in the parking lot are wearing new radio collars.

“It is an obscene system”

Exactly the right word.

IMO, timing is everything. It’s not like ICE just found out that Pilgrims Pride plants, or Tyson plants, etc. are loaded with illegals. And it’s not like those who are deported can’t be back in the states next week. IMO, these dog and pony shows, and the timing of them, are done purposefully. The result is usually an outcry of sympathy for illegal aliens by ‘compassionate’ bipartisans and ‘proof’ of the need for ‘comprehensive’ immigration reform.

“sympathy for illegal aliens”

isn’t it interesting that the Liberals who are expressing their “compassion” for illegals, have no “compassion” for the Americans whose jobs these illegals are taking and/or the neighborhoods that these illegals are depreciating...

it’s all about the “new” class of “needy” who the, “mommy party”, ‘Rats are trying to get in the voting booth...

This can't be true...I was just informed by some Freepers yesterday that "scumbag" Chertoff is "dragging his feet on purpose" because "the lying a-hole deliberately wants to ruin the U.S. by diluting the populace with lice-carrying Mexican castoffs" and that President Bush should be "tried for treason"! < /sarcasm, but I'm not kidding, it was all on one single thread>

Very true. These raids make news, but are so small they accomplish very little. And I suspect ICE knows they could do better.

You become illegal the moment your visa expires and you stay in this country.

This thread Mexico Complains Of Too Many Repatriated Mexicans should be required reading for everyone.

I only wish the other 49 states had the brains that Arizona does.

As recently as 2004-2005, immigration hawks were persona non grata in neocon circles. In fact, quite a few of them got purged from FR.

The general public has made tremendous strides in coming to grips with this problem as they see their communities destroyed by illegal invaders, but the political class is slow to catch on.
