Did they promote the broadcast on their channel much in the last few days do you know?

Did you hear of the Soviet plan to become the first to land on the Sun? To prevent the cosmonauts from burning up, the landing was planned for nighttime.

Just to be clear on all this, Kevin Davis, I firmly believe that you’re mistaken. Nor is it logical to infer that if billions upon billions of worlds created by God harbor no life that God is “stupid”; there’s a subjective value imposition implied there.

That being said, I’m not the one who believes that the search for a species of black swan is without merit. Not too long ago the idea that such creature could exist would’ve been met with derision, mockery, ridicule and scorn; every single such creature ever seen since the beginning of recorded history was white.

It is my firm belief that with respect to philosophical differences, this thread is NOT the forum to air differences. Let us all agree to disagree. Anybody’s free to post an entirely seperate thread devling into the nuance and intracicies that such differences entail. I, for one, have no interest to moderate such a thing.

All camps in the dog-fight make me sick; for none of ‘em know how to be respectible, even if the same thing is the one thing that all agree on (its because they’er in different camps that they can’t accede to any point of the other). What a bunch of stubborn stiffnecked people...

eh, did I digress again? I HATE when that happens (and it happens repeatedly).

All in favor of getting back to the theme of the thread initiator: raise your hands. Well, looks like all the “ayes” have it.

I don’t know. I merely spotted it on TV listings.

hopefully when we start sending people to both, it will ignite some of the passion we once had

I certainly hope so. I try to infect everyone with my interest in space and these missions. My girlfriend is too young to remember any of the moon landings but she's watching with me tonight.

Yup. All of the work on Mars and the Moon, hopefully when we start sending people to both, it will ignite some of the passion we once had - once upon a time we were a nation of pioneers. Nowadays we are simply settlers, settling for anything.

Exactly. Even the recent shuttle missions have been more exciting as they push to complete the ISS. A lot more exciting than some high school student's experiment studying the reproduction of fruit flies in 0 g.

Didn’t they steal the idea for screen doors on submarines from the poles?

The descent thrusters were manufactured by Aerojet in Redmond, WA, about 35 mi. north of me.

These live mission threads are some of the best. For the most part, politics and ideology goes out the window.

Anybody remember sitting up till 4 AM to watch a spacecraft crash into an asteroid?

I can’t usually ‘do’ live threads AND watch an event, but I was up waiting to see that astroid interception. Cheers to our Navy and hopefully cheers to NASA.
