According to numerous press reports, President George W. Bush plans to attend the opening ceremonies of the Summer Olympics in Beijing, China later this month. Bush said that it "would be an affront to the Chinese people" if he stayed away. Other world leaders, including Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany and Prime Minister Gordon Brown of Britain, are choosing to not attend the opening ceremonies in the communist country.
It is hard for this writer to laud President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, but in this case, even the socialist Roosevelt showed more integrity than our so-called "conservative" President, George W. Bush. When the 1936 Olympics were held in Berlin, Germany, President Roosevelt refused to attend those ceremonies for fear that his presence would give honor and prestige to the notorious Adolf Hitler. And so it would have. And, by the same token, when President Bush attends the opening ceremonies in China, he is giving honor and prestige to the bloody butchers of Beijing who have persecuted, tortured, and murdered multiplied thousands of the Chinese people since the communist regime took power in 1949.
President Bush said it would be an affront to the Chinese people if he did not attend the Olympics. Wrong. It would be an affront to the Red Chinese tyrants. And they deserve to be affronted! Instead, by attending the Olympic ceremonies, Bush is choosing to affront the hundreds of thousands of Chinese victims who have suffered brutality and barbarism at the hands of the very people Bush will be wining and dining with. Actually, by participating in the Beijing Olympics, President Bush is an affront to freedom-loving people everywhere.
For example, the Chinese government has already created profiles of thousands of foreign journalists ...

That is not outside the realm of possibility.
Unfortunately.
This is not about Chuck, it’s about the issue. In my first post that started this I raised some others like the massive displacement of millions of homeless to put a good face on China, and their continued closing of factories putting unknown millions out of work ... not to protect the environment ... but only as a temporary measure again ... to show what good environmental stewards they are (and how callous they are about human life and the economic needs of their citizens).
This is no bogus story, even the WSJ has given considerable coverage to it (without really raising a stink).
The outcry over those two measure alone ought to be heard far and wide day and night ...
But the other real story about that is the revelation it provides about the political revolution left. When they target a free country they use every means possible to bring it down including a false concern about safety and environment (so that they can get a stranglehold upon the free market and a “legitimate” excuse to strangulate free enterprise) but once in control, the heck with safety and environment.
Attacking the messenger only deflects the issue that so many of us ought to be concerned about.
And I’m not talking about interventionism either, only that we have a relationship, and have had relationships dating back to the 50’s, with Communist states, that tilt in their favor at our expense, and the expense of their millions and billions of ‘citizens.’
Creating an illusion of a good life in Utopia that is not so good, even as it simultaneously pulls down our good life, that would be much better, were we not so blind to the transfers of wealth and technology and the diminishing freedoms and public virtue right here.
Sure, folks are exploiting the Olympics to get the message out. And that just may be because a significant segment of our population never goes beyond the sport page. It could be that we just might inspire a few of them to think out of the batters box.
Maybe not - but the old Moscow boycott got the attention of this former jock.
Oh my God, I haven't seen this kind of cognitive dissonance/head-in-the-sand mentality amongst so many freepers in one thread in a really long time. A lot of you people have some serious blinders on.
Never.
And now they're equating Europe and China. Good God.
That works for me. Put it on a Master Card and send China $20 bucks a month.
If you were an athlete who had dreamed and trained all you life for the Olympics, You'd have grounds to so pontificate.
oops... “tAriffs”, NOT triffs.
So in your mind, FDR should have gone over and cavorted with Hitler? That's what you're seriously saying?
Are you siding with the Muslim terrorists?
If I could be assured it is only ChiCom government officials getting popped and not civilians, absolutely.
The Olympics have always been political. Since the first games athletes have always competed representing their national political entity. Proposals that athletes compete under no national flag and just represent themselves have never gone anywhere. How much interest do you think the Olympics would have if that were the case? Close to zero. The whole idea is that these athletes are proxy warriors battling in an arena with supposedly fair rules and judging. Well sort of anyway. :)
I wouldn't argue with that on principle but it was Republicans in the Republican controlled Congress of '98 or '99 (thereabouts) that pushed for and got MFN trading status for China.
He is honoring our USA athletes who have trained all their lives for the Olympics.
The way I look at it, Bush deals with communists everyday when he wakes up dealing with the freaks in the Democratic
congress working with people like Pelosi, Feintstein, Clinton and Obama. What’s the difference? Personally, I would rather see him take a stand against those freaks rather then grandstand in a country where most of the citizens are victims of the government. Really, think about it most of the citizens in China had no choice in selecting their government, by contrast, our commies were put into office by the voters. Of course, you can thank the socialist school system for indoctrinating the dolts who put those traitors into office!
“I want to know why no one is talking about the Muslim terrorist attack that took place in China last night.”
Fallacy - see the thread on the sidebar. It’s proof that enough people are talking about the Islamist attacks in ChiCom land.
“Are you siding with the Muslim terrorists?”
No - are you siding with the godless, forced sterilization/abortion, genocide-loving chicoms? If so, why?
“...but it was Republicans in the Republican controlled Congress of ‘98 or ‘99 (thereabouts) that pushed for and got MFN trading status for China.”
Sadly, you are absolutely correct. That is when I KNEW they had abandoned their conservative base. I had begun to suspect it earlier tan that, but I KNEW it then.
Are you an ostrich? Or do you merely play the role of one when you post on China threads?
So you think Europe is our friend and not our enemy?
LOL No one said you couldn't speak up. But of course, no one promised you wouldn't be taken seriously when you hysterically overreact either.
That’s actually a very nice way of looking at it.
I am going to try to adopt your attitude towards the issue.
I will STILL hate the Communist (more actcurately Fascist) Chinese, but this will keep me from being irritated with our president.
How is the President's attendance at an international event 'whore him out to murdering dictators'?
