Barack Obama's campaign is rolling out a number of centrist Republicans who are endorsing the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee over Republican rival John McCain - in a show of his ability to win cross-over votes.
A conference call Tuesday featured former Iowa Rep. Jim Leach, former White House intelligence adviser Rita Hauser and former Rhode Island Sen. Lincoln Chafee, who represented his state as a Republican, but switched to become a Democrat so he could vote for Obama in the primary.
Leach predicted that a lot of Republicans and independents are going to be attracted by Obama's campaign.
The Obama camp also pointed journalists to reports that Fairbanks, Alaska, Mayor Jim Whitaker, a Republican, also has announced his support for Obama.

Fixed.
A “centrist” should look at the election this way:
The Democrat nominee is the most Liberal guy in the Senate. The Left loves him.
The Republican nominee is the guy most Conservatives can’t stand. The Right doesn’t like him.
So, who’s the “Centrist?”
These RINOs are idiots. Besides, I’m tired of people in the middle of the road deciding elections. Most of them just don’t know squat.
I think McCain will be going after the more centrist and left-leaning of his party, because he knows the he’s got the conservative vote wrapped-up, as they hate Obama so much they have to vote for him.
So glad that traitorous mole got thrown out on his keester last election! Surge/Purge on RINO's!
It’s all in the headlines.
That is all many will read and think the whole Republican Party and some Independents will go for the “change”.
all three of them? Don’t know the Hauser person, but Chaffee and Leach were never really Republicans. They were the prototype for Hagel.
e) all of the above......
The media is ignoring the Democrats for McCain. Even the Hillary Delegates are being replaced before they come out against Obama at the convention.
“But, we need to vote for them and the things they support! We need every one” as idiot Republicans always say.
Could have something to do with the fact that they’re positioning themselves for positions with a possible Obama win?
Did you know that the RNConvention coming up cannot fill up hotels in St. Paul? That many Senators are not coming to the convention? That bars in the area aren’t even opting to stay open late?(although there is a fee for that, but it’s looking like a fee that wouldn’t be worth paying.
This Republican candidate is awful and everyone knows it.

I don’t see any conservativism in the stated backgrounds of the people behind this PR campaign. Some served with RINOs.
There is a lifelong Republican from Berkely who suddenly appears to be for Marxism. Obama must have some strong kool aid.
At least two well known conservative Blacks have made it known they may not support the Republican candidate (J.D. Watts and John McWhorter) and a third has said the country would do “Just fine” with Obama (Condi Rice). Reverse racism??
The American Communist Party has also backed the Obamessiah. For some reason, the media has failed to make mention of the fact. Leach, Chaffee and Karl Marx...now there’s a real triple threat for you!
At least the MSM isn't scraping the bottom of the barrel to find the RINOs who support Obamessiah.
I just can't figure out what all three of these people have in common. Can you?
I was at a restaurant this weekend and a very large, drunk lady (who bumped a few seats on her way out) said to(ward) my table "all you crackers votin Obama? doesnt matter if you do, da K-K-K is gonna kill'im befo' da lection, mark my words. ok bye crackers!"
and she was out like that.
We were mostly confused, some just laughed it off, most just rolled our eyes. Whatever the case, it's very revealing of the mindset of those who subscribe to Black Liberation Theology and think that everyone is out to get them.
No, I can't disagree with Obama without being racist.
Oh by the way, supporting Condi is racist because you're only using her because of her race.
Who wrote these rules? I don't wanna play any more...
Match the man with his quote:
"Religion is the opiate of the masses"
"Opiate is my religion"
"What's an opiate?"
