I think this is a VERY telling freudian slip by Barrack.

I watched it and I agree with you. Steph kept hammering away at him on the surge also. I can't wait to see Obama talk about the surge in the debates. It's painful to watch.

What else is new? Interviewer helpful to the Democrat; happens all the time. And it appears to me that Obama is simply saying that McCain himself did not say that Obama held to the Muslim faith.
The longer link in post 60 has context. Obama isn’t admitting he’s a Muslim.
Why would you think anything needs to be "sent to Rush"? Do you listen to the show? Isn't it obvious to you that Rush and/or whomever he has helping him do an absolutely amazing amount of show-prep? If Rush isn't talking about something that one can read here on FR, it is because he has made a conscious decision not to talk about it.

I think it's clear that he merely left out a word such as "putative" or "ostensible" before "Muslim."
From a partisan standpoint, I have to admit that I would have preferred that he had done something that reprised his recital of the shahada (which he recited for the New York Times last year), but I find it clear that this slip was innocuous.
Reciting the shahada was anything but innocuous; it was clear declaration that he is indeed a professing Muslim. It was the most remarkable thing that I remember in any presidential campaign.
This minor verbal slip, though, I believe is not significant.
I agree with your comments that the initial 17 second youtube clip is misleading. I think we conservatives get a bad name jumping on something like this as somehow “proof” he’s a Muslim.
That said, the entire clip in context can be used to for two very powerful reinforcements that:
a) Obama is getting tongue tied in these interviews he’s done the past few days. He’s looking really rattled right now and can we say it “inexperienced” under this type of pressure? I think so.
b) It just validates that guys like GSteph in the drive by media are in the tank for him.

I don’t think he was admitting that he was a Muslim, but he certainly phrased it strangely. However, he’s very prone to these odd statements, which probably are Freudian slips in their truest sense. I believe it was yesterday that he said he was having to learn a lot as president, and then corrected himself and said “as a presidential candidate.” He actually does think of himself as President already, and I think the Muslim slip, while not an admission, was pretty revealing.
