Major earthquakes can topple buildings, cause landslides and spawn tsunamis. Now scientists say they can do something else: set off the release of methane gas from the seabed.

Can we petition Congress to ban earthquakes? The release of all this methane gas contributes to global warming and climate change, and I really think our elected officials should do something to stop these devastating earthquakes.

Absolutely! Any government that can end evolution with laws like the Endangered Species Act -- which stops "survival of the fittest" in its tracks -- should easily be able to stop earthquakes, hurricanes, flooding and other natural disasters.

I was in Yokohama when an earthquake struck and I released a large amount of methane as the building shook, so there is something to this thread.
