A Vietnam war veteran whose attorneys say suffers from severe post-traumatic stress disorder is scheduled to be executed at a Georgia prison Tuesday night, Military Times reported. The state parole board on Monday declined clemency for Andrew Brannan, after the 66-year-old Army veteran's attorneys argued he was having a flashback when he killed a deputy sheriff 16 years ago.

That’s a bunch of Hollywood. The movies got filled with it after Vietnam and after the Korean war (the “brainwashing” hype that turns them into a Manchurian Candidate zombie). It’s rare to almost unheard of for someone to actually think they are “back in the war”. I notice I never see them start digging a fighting hole, or cleaning their weapon, or being willing to sell their soul to take a nap”

Its a BS excuse that guys like him use. Its no different than guys who claim service to get special treatment. Flip side of the same lying coin.

I agree, he should indeed die in prison. (with a needle in his arm, strapped to a stretcher)

And I’ve known a few guys who have given me advice on how easy it is to demonstrate your PTSD and get disability. Anyway, hopefully he’ll be out of our misery by midnight.

So that justifies shooting a cop dead? Stressed out how many years later? My dad and uncle served in Vietnam and two brothers served in Iraq and went through sh&t during that time and came back and adjusted.

I did not say it was justified. My son also came back from Iraq and yes, he adjusted but he still has PTSD. None of us are built the same and there is no justification for this guy. Was just saying what this guy went through.

Inexperienced green officer vs experienced combat soldier.

Possibly but the officer was definitely not willing to kill another individual and suffered the ultimate consequence.

I appreciate that. Just as an aside, have you read Rev. Wright’s military bio? The Rev. Wright that 0bama listened to and the MSM played his rant regarding America. You’ll find that bio quite interesting - part of it was he saved Cheney’s life ....

As far as the "experienced combat soldier", there was nothing in his actions that showed me he was a combat soldier. Every action he did was nothing more than what a crazy individual would have done if they had an unloaded M-1 carbine in their truck and an inexperienced LEO trying to detain him when such LEO had every opportunity to shoot the SOB..............

Just going from memory, I believe the Captain earned some medals or a medal for acts of bravery in combat.

Wow, that video clearly shows that his flashback argument is complete BS. He’s long overdue for a dirt nap.

"This murderer has been sitting on death row for 17 years? That's the problem! He should have been put down many years ago. Justice delayed is justice denied."

Seriously, I was 6 years at the time of Dep. Dinkheller's brutal murder and I can remember the way it affected the entire Laurens County community like it happened yesterday. Now I'm older than Kyle Dinkheller was at the time and his murderer is still sitting on death row.

Exactly. Most of these types were supply clerks at Long Binh, because, regardless of MOS, experienced NCO's recognized a nutter when they saw one and they were sent back to some cushy job in the rear. In later years, these same nutters claimed to have been traumatized by the experience. Nonsense.

eastforker, thank you for your interest and postings, delving for truth. Many FRiends have semi-kneejerk reactions. I am trying to change no one’s feelings. I am one of the 6%. My wives can testify to about the terrible anger and suddenness I experience. The alcohol abuse. Kids terrified of me. Waking up choking and beating them. Wives, not kids. I’ll ask for no one’s acceptances nor forgiveness.

This guy was no supply clerk. He was a 1st Lt. FO for an artillery unit and also infantry.

Just thought you might want to know. If interested check out post 53 and 55.
