To be fair, Bill Nye didn’t actually say people should be eliminated by their governments to save the environment and the planet. He did say that there are too many people and parents, at least in the developed world, should be punished for having "too many” children:
The season finale of pop scientist Bill Nye's new Netflix show "Bill Nye Saves the World" suggested that the government should punish people who have too many children, for the sake of the environment.
"The average Nigerian emits 0.1 metric tons of carbon annually," noted Nye's guest, Dr. Travis Rieder. "How many does the average American emit? Sixteen metric tons."
Rieder said Americans having an average of two children are "waaaay more problematic" than Nigerians having seven when it comes to preventing global warming.
"Should we have policies that penalize people for having extra kids in the developed world?" Nye asked.
“I do think we should at least consider it," Rieder said.
Nye pushed him even further.
"Well, ‘at least consider it' is like, ‘do it,'" he opined.
The other two guests pushed back, however, pointing out that what Nye and Rieder were proposing came dangerously close to the eugenics policies of America's past, which ending up disproportionately targeting poor women and minorities.

When it's my time and the Good Lord calls me home, I'd like to be buried under my compost pile, where I can emit water vapor, methane and CO2 to my heart's content.

You are spot on! If the Mexicans, Guatemalans and others would stay in their own countries they would emit far less CO2 than they would after coming here and adopting our opulent lifestyles.

Well, not everybody who uses the metric system is a tyrant, but it does seem that all tyrants prefer the metric system.
Traditional measures divide into halves, quarters and thirds. This is the way people think. You tell somebody to put a mark halfway down a stick, and he will get it right to within 2% or so. If you ask him to put a mark .3 of the length down a stick, and he will be right to within 10% or so. That is why people like traditional measures.
But the metric system is better for the manager and for the person who is keeping track of many large numbers of things or people, because it all adds up digitally. That is why tyrants like SI units.
Frankly, if we just taught everybody to count using all of their fingers, but not using their thumbs, and converted to a Base 8 numerical system, there would be no difference between efficient SI units and human-friendly traditional units. If we had been doing that for the last thousand years, we would probably have colonies on Mars by now.

Sources vary on the quantity, but your observation is no doubt roughly correct.
There was a case a few years back in San Francisco, where about a dozen bicyclists were harassing a family of four in a minivan because they minivan was despoiling the planet by emitting climate destroying CO2.
It was pretty clear, by a cursory analysis, that the 12 bicyclists were emitting more excess CO2 by chasing the minivan down the street than the minivan was by driving along.
I made sure to inform my teenager and friends about what the metrosexual, Carlos danger looking a hole was really all about when I heard them talking about how he was on Netflix and how they remembered him from their youth. They turned their nose up on him quick. I also told them to pass the word. Hahaha
