Easthampton High School freshmen are now being referred to as first year students as the school aims to be more gender inclusive... The change comes after students from the Gender and Sexuality Alliance Group made recommendations to the handbook committee, on how the schools handbook language could be made more gender neutral.

All First Year students shall henceforth be named "Thing 1."

Restoring social justice. Doesn’t it thrill you to the point of wetting your pants? Or getting the dry heaves?

Probably a good idea, since there’s not likely a person among them headed to manhood, from what we’re seeing.

It must be nice to have so few difficulties in life that you have to search feverishly to come up with something, anything to quibble over.

Are the students as stupid as the school? If not, the school will certainly do everything it can to dumb them down.

Holy cow. I was sure “freshpeople” would’ve been enough for these leftists “persons.”

I was going to agree and label them "first world problems" but the things we usually mock as "first world problems" have a slight glimmer of legitimacy to them (however silly). This one has no merit at all, like most SJW complaints.
SJWs are spoiled brats, but the grown-up humans who cave in to their ludicrous demands are also to blame. That includes most of the politically appointed, who cringe in fear for their cushy jobs at the thought that someone might be angry with them for being told "NO!"

And after that, what about juniors and seniors? Those terms are indicative of a ranking, of a hierarchy if you will, based on levels of achievement, credits earned towards graduation, etc.
So, eventually, you will have 1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year, 4th year, with no indications or implications that any year is superior in any way to any other year.
To: bgill
Call them “frosh” and the ladies “co-eds”.

Politically correct has run amuck in this country to the point it is hard to recognize. Odumbo “fundamentally” change it, that’s for certain, and NOT for the better.

It's like that with graduate school.
And you might well wonder whether spending more time in graduate school really does make somebody superior.

Personally, I never really liked the term 'freshman'. I do not recall that term being used in Canada, during my lifetime at least. I've always heard the phrase 'first year student's used.
As far as the reason for the change requested by the Easthampton High School 'Gender and Sexuality Alliance Group', in the immortal words of Mr. A. Bunker, I say,
