Don’t laugh, we’re closer to a bipartisan solution on climate change than you realize
The Hill ^ | 06/05/18 | Mark Reynolds

Posted on 06/05/2018 12:12:17 PM PDT by yesthatjallen

Ask a typical person concerned about global warming if they think Congress will enact a bipartisan solution to climate change, and the response is likely to be a derisive laugh.

For millions of Americans who watch cable news shows or read the papers, such cynicism is easy to come by. Democrats and Republicans can barely get together on keeping the government from shutting down. How in the world could they ever come together on an issue as politically divisive as climate change?

But in the past decade, the findings and predictions of climate scientists have been validated by real-world evidence: ice vanishing from poles and glaciers, sea levels rising, storms and wildfires becoming more destructive, and temperatures moving inexorably in one direction — up.

Even before the Citizens United decision by the Supreme Court, which gave big-monied interests the power to bend national policy to their will on issues like climate change, the divide between the parties was widening — Democrats seeing climate change as an issue needing to be addressed; Republicans questioning the urgency and need for action and whether a problem existed at all.

Given that Republicans are the party of less government, it’s safe to assume that additional regulation falls outside the Venn diagram sweet spot of common ground. The solution most likely to find favor in both camps has to be market-based and revenue-neutral, and a fee on carbon with proceeds returned to households meets those requirements. Such a fee will provide the economic incentive to speed the transition to clean energy and reduce carbon emissions.

Etc...

The answer is more socialist re-distribution.

What was the question?

It can be solved if everybody were to live in caves, eat twigs and berries, wear animal skins, walk everywhere, hunt with homemade bows and arrows.

Mankind did that for a while and, in the end, decided nice warm houses, factory-made clothes, farm-grown food and affordable horseless transportation was a better way to live.

Not really.

This climate of this planet has been in a constant state of change throughout its existence. Most of that change has occurred without any human involvement at all.

Human beings are just not all that important to the earth’s climate.

Global Warming is not due to human contribution of Carbon Dioxide - Global Warming: The Cold, Hard Facts? By Timothy Ball No Smoking Hot Spot (The Australian)

Those two articles take Greenhouse Theory at face value and by the criterion set up in the theory itself finds no evidence of warming on the basis of greenhouse effect.

https://hotair.com/archives/2011/07/28/sky-high-hole-blown-in-agw-theory/

"Forbes reports on a peer-reviewed study that uses NASA data to show that the effects of carbon-based warming have been significantly exaggerated. In fact, much of the heat goes out into space rather than stay trapped in the atmosphere, an outcome that started long before AGW alarmists predicted:"

That article explains why no Hot Spot has been found.

Harvard astrophysicist dismisses AGW theory, challenges peers to 'take back climate science' Seminole County Environmental News Examiner ^ | May 11, 2010 | Kirk Myers Posted on 5/15/2010, 2:23:07 PM by hugorand

In the following interview, Dr. Willie Soon, a solar and climate scientist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, questions the prevailing dogma of man-made global warming and challenges his peers to “take back climate science.” His remarks are his personal opinion based upon 19 years of scientific research.

Examiner.com: What drives climate change on Earth?

Dr. Soon: Most of the weather and climate variations we observed are essentially related to the sun and the changing seasons – not by CO2 radiative forcing and feedback. The climate system is constantly readjusting naturally in a large way – more than we would ever see from CO2. The CO2 kick [impact of CO2 emissions] is extremely small compared to what is happening in a natural way. Within the framework of a proper study of the sun-climate connection, you don’t need CO2 to explain anything.

Examiner.com: What is your opinion of the anthropogenic (man-caused) global warming theory?

Dr. Soon: It’s never been about the science – even from the very beginning. It’s based on confusion and a mixture of ideology. We should deal only in the facts that we do know.

Examiner.com: Many of the scientists promoting the global warming theory appear to be driven by politics rather than hard scientific data. What are your thoughts?

Dr. Soon: I am a scientist. I go where the facts take me. And the facts are fairly clear. It doesn’t take very long to discover that their views [of man-caused global warming] aren’t grounded in the facts. Why would any solid science need so much promotion and advertisement and the endless shouting about how the science has all been “settled”? And now we’re supposed to believe that the growing consensus on the street that humans are not responsible for global warming is due mainly to the...

http://miltonconservative.blogspot.com/2010/03/simple-chemistry-and-real-greenhouse.html

Those four articles each show that Greenhouse Theory itself has no basis in reality due to a direct conflict with the known laws of physics. No wonder the smoking gun "hotspot" can't be found.

http://www.climatechangefacts.info/ClimateChangeDocuments/NilsAxelMornerinterview.pdf

That article kills any thought of planetary warming from any cause. Think about it. If there is absolutely no sign of an acceleration of sea level rise how could the planet be warming? The rise in sea level in the last 100 years is far less than the average over the last 18,000 years caused by the inter-glacial period we are in.

I have a bipartisan solution for them: anyone who thinks CO2 is a problem can stop expelling it, and the rest of us can live happily ever after.

Not a single assertion in this statement is true. How can a solution be based on a total lie.

Stop all third world immigration to the West. Let the West population stabilize and decrease. The West inherently burns more fuel and the third world. Let the third world countries get their populations under control. This is very consistent with solving global warming and it is never discussed as a potential solution. I have long believed that the global warming theory is a hoax because the only solutions that are offered up are ones that advance left-wing agendas

Mark Reynolds and the rest of them no the wheels we coming off the Global Warming bus. They have about five more years to cut a deal. After that, they will get nothing. Time to settle cheap.

Using my ability to predict the future, I will outline the eventual deal:

1. Incentives to adopt reduced carbon technology that will accomplish nothing that has not already been accomplished by cheap natural gas and fracking.

2. Continued subsidies to be paid for by a 5% tax on electricity and gasoline.

3. Perpetual sinecures for Global Warming scientists and activists that will be a policy rubber room, completely divorced from any real power.

The day the deal is signed, new evidence will be discovered that will demonstrate the miraculous effect of the new policy and how the World has been saved.
