Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer financed the purchase with a mortgage from the developers, according to public records Michael Cohen, Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer who is under federal investigation, bought a $6.7 million apartment in April in a new Manhattan skyscraper that is being developed by two of Mr. Trump’s longtime friends, according to people familiar with the transaction.

Located at 111 Murray Street in Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood, the project is being developed by a partnership of real estate companies Fisher Brothers, Witkoff and New Valley. New Valley is headed by Howard Lorber, a real estate developer and longtime friend of Mr. Trump. Steve Witkoff, the founder of Witkoff, is also a longtime friend of Mr. Trump.

On the 19th floor, Mr. Cohen’s unit is about 2,697 square feet, with four bedrooms and 4½ bathrooms, according to listing website StreetEasy. It had been on the market for $7.475 million, according to the website. Amenities in the building include a Turkish bath, a private dining room, a 75-foot lap pool, a fitness center, an arcade and a concierge service that books private aircraft.

Mr. Cohen financed the purchase by securing a $3.5 million short-term mortgage from the developers, rather than getting financing from a bank, according to public records. While developers occasionally offer to finance purchases in their projects, such developer financing is unusual in Manhattan, real-estate attorneys say. People familiar with the deal said Mr. Cohen would have had trouble securing traditional financing because the unit did not yet meet the city’s legal requirements for occupancy.

People familiar with the transaction said Mr. Cohen had been in a rush to close due to an impending tax event. He’d sold a unit at New York’s Trump World Tower for roughly $3.3 million in October 2017, and needed to reinvest the profits within a fixed time frame to avoid incurring immediate taxes on the sale, they said. Mr. Cohen and his wife personally guaranteed the loan, according to people familiar with the deal. Mr. Cohen didn’t respond to requests for comment.

I heard that Lanny Davis, his attorney, is creating a legal defense fund for Cohen.

Why in hell is Lanny Davis his attorney? That is beyond idiotic.

He might want to think about subletting because I think he and his lawyer just blew a pardon.

I was a mortgage broker for about 10 years. I could get him a loan with no real problems, and if I could, the big dogs surely can. I wouldn’t mind that commission check.

A guy with a $6.7 million apartment who admits to tax fraud charges and then has his lawyer set up a GoFundMe page to raise $500,000 to cover his legal fees is about as big a joke as you'll find these days.

This moron probably couldn't even get his own family members to donate $25 apiece to this fund. LOL.

re> Why in hell is Lanny Davis his attorney?

With Lanny as his attorney Hillary and the Deep State have complete control on all the information, proceedings etc. I am so freaked by this. Lanny should have been arrested a decade ago.

I’ve been wondering why Cohen folded as he did. But now I’m reading about millions of dollars being moved around. Maybe that’s part of the puzzle.

Yes, back quite a while ago. As we know, Trump is VERY BIG on loyalty and support....bye-bye Cohen.

Methinks that short term mortgage will soon be in default.

Davis said when Cohen tried to hire him he would not represent him if he were trying to help Trump. The Legal System in America is corrupt and and so is the US Justice Department in my opinion. Since retiring as a police officer I have followed the way the legal system works and it makes me sick to my stomach. The so called American Justice System is controlled by lawyers who themselves appear to be the most corrupt people in the country’ Somehow, some way America has got to wake up and get rid of these Criminal Attorneys. I personally would never convict any one if I were on a Jury if there was not some kind of pain involved. I truly am ashamed of my countrymen and their inability not to see what is happening. The Federal Courts pick and choose who to make an example of. America is going to get what she deserves and it wont be nice.

I believe I read yesterday that Cohen said he would refuse a pardon if one was offered. I guess Mike is reading the scripts written for him by his new owners; Associates of The Clinton Foundation.

I think Lanny Davis has 3 main goals here, although a 4th goal may be conceivable:

1) Get on TV and insult Trump as often as possible.
2) Get access to information which can be funneled to the Clinton Foundation for future benefit.
3) Squeeze money out of a GoFundMe site

4) Help Cohen if it’s not too much trouble.

You’re absolutely right.

Davis works for the Deep State and the Clintons.

It’s all very sickening.

Maybe he folded as quickly as he did because going to prison might be the best way to get out from under his debts.

Thank you.

As you say, it is truly sickening. I can imagine how disgusted you are.

What bothers me more than anything is the lack of discernment in so many people.
