I think so too. When it comes time for Trump to replace RBG, the theatrical violence of the left will become the real thing. Once that starts, it will kick-off a cycle that no one will be able to control.

Kavanaugh is a human being, he must be PISSED.
The upside is that I can only imagine that his conservatism will be strengthened. He not go Blackmun or Souter on us.

If I heard correctly this morning when someone suggested
Soros was behind most of the resistance to Kavanaugh’s confirmation Cauvto said “Lets not jump to conclusions”. If so it looks like the journey toward Faux News continues.

Name one SC Justice nominated by a Democrat President in the last 50 years that has been a disappointment to them. There are none. Republican presidents have given us Kennedy, Souter, and Stevens. Yet, Dems and media flip out that the GOP is going to move the court to one side. In reality, the exact opposite is true. It’s the Dems that move to the extreme and the GOP is expected to nominate moderates and swing voters.

Thomas is relatively young. Ginsburg and Breyer are in their 80s.

The imminent confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh will likely mean the dawn of a conservative high court for decades to come.
Yeah...I hope so. But I've heard this before, when David Souter was confirmed, and we all know how that turned out. There's always a tendency for presidents to pick establishment Republican moderates for the SC, and establishment Republican moderates have a strong dog-like instinct to please liberals which overwhelms any conservative principles. Thus, we've had disappointment after disappointment - in my lifetime Sandra Day O'Connor, Anthony Kennedy, Souter. And of course John Roberts, the Chief Justice, who was pivotal in preserving Obamacare, contorting logic into interesting pretzel shapes to justify his decision.
Hopefully Kavanaugh will repay Trump's nomination and solid backing by proving to be as solid a conservative voice on the court as Clarence Thomas and Sam Alito have been. Meanwhile, I expect John Roberts to move into the all-important wishy-washy moderate swing-vote position formerly occupied by Kennedy.

Captain Obvious opines. Have much help reaching your conclusion?

Kennedy voted with the conservative majority in most cases. He was just a flaming liberal when it came to homosexuals.

If it were me, Id make those bastards rue the day they were born every time one of their cases came before me. But thats just me.

Enough with all this conservative v. liberal. Justice is supposed to be blind. How about we get a SCOTUS who looks only at the Constitution as the founders intended.

Thomas has been on the Court the longest. I have long predicted that he will retire next summer as long as the Republicans hold the Senate. He does not want to risk waiting until a democrat gets elected president and then be stuck waiting possibly a decade of more for another Republican President and Republican controlled Senate.

Step 1 would be to permanently reduce the number of Supreme Court Justices back down to the original 6. That way it takes at least a 2/3 majority to decide any case. If they cannot reach a 2/3 consensus then the issue goes back to the courts of appeal until the do.
Of course this will never happen. More likely, the next time the democrats elect a president and control Congress they will enact a court packing scheme to seize control of the Supreme Court. Then when the Republicans retake the Presidency and Congress they will enact their own court packing scheme to take back the Court. Eventually the Supreme Court will look like the House of Representatives.
