“Since agriculture is the industry that's most reliant on undocumented workers “
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Cheap ( illegal) labor suppresses innovation. If there weren't illegals in the farm industry perhaps many of these tasks would be mechanized. Entirely new measures might be taken to produce food such as hydroponics factories. Food would not only be cheaper but more plentiful. There may be fewer e-coli deaths.

There are historical examples. For example, the Black Death that decimated the European population also undermined the feudal system.

It's all about "incentivization". If there are some $$$ to be made and free market rules (read 'fair') are permitted to reign, then Kaitie bar the door when it comes to Americans coming up with gadgets.

Not really related but sort of:

First Gulf War and Saddam set Kuwait's oil fields on fire as lovely parting gifts. No a good thing, but the enviro bed-wetters were declaring a "nuclear winter"..."darkened skies for decades"..."environmental catastrophe of historic proportions..."....blah, blah, blah... And Carl Sagan was the worst of these hand-wringers.

Well, I think the estimates were something like two years to get all these well fires put out. GHWB starting flashing an Uncle Sam checkbook around as a throw-down to the best and brightest to get after these fires. What was it? Six months and they were all out? Extraordinary, and the coolest story was about the Bulgarians using surplus Sukhoi jet engines on a tracked carrier to woof-out the flames. Those dudes were cool!

Incentivization wins.

Yep! Many don't and they fail. Welcome to capitalism.

Gee! Imagine if someone invented an automobile? Some of those buggy whip manufacturers would fail.

I have no doubt many illegals work very hard for low pay. I also have no doubt many are double, triple, and more dipping on free handouts with stolen identities. So what is the real cost of illegal labor?

You can’t end welfare until you kick all the illegals out.

So would SeeBS have written an article about industries that wouldn't work without slavery while advocating for slavery to continue?
How does SeeBS suppose agriculture survives and thrives in very high wage, advanced countries with close to zero illegal immigrants like Japan, South Korea and Taiwan?

Exactly right. This language justifying the necessity of ilegals is exactly what was used to justify slavery.

Dairy products ruin your health, anyway. No great loss.

How about we have imported enough people for now. Let’s halt all immigration for 30 years.

Innovation like “pay more”.

So called “liberals” (commies) have always been about slavery. They just mask it with rhetoric.

Isn’t CBS promoting criminal behavior here? Aren’t there laws against this?

One of the arguments to keep slavery was because no one else would do the ag work.

There is a wage at which someone will do every job in the USA. Every single one.

That is irrelevant. What's called virtue signaling.

The younger generation doesn’t dare go too far from the couch and/ or video games.

They don’t seem to have such problems in the professional fields; which circles back to the “pay them enough” issue.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Starting pay twenty bucks an hour for no skills. How much is “pay them enough”? On prevailing wage projects it’s 40-50 an hour. The potential workforce is severely limited due to laziness and the inability to pass a simple piss test.
OK, let’s take on this premise. If the industries need the manpower, then increase the temporary work visa count and bring in the help LEGALLY. Or is it that they are reliant on slave labor / slave wages?
