For those who say that tariffs will be paid by consumers, that applies only to those who who buy products from those countries. We buy no produce from Mexico, fo example, so we would not be paying the tariff on produce. We do not buy cheap Chevy cars made in Mexico, so that tariff won’t be paid by us. Let those who support Mexican trade pay the tariffs.
I would gladly pay an extra quarter for an avocado than being continually taxed to death to pay for mooching illegal aliens!

It’s summertime. We’re good on various produce for 3.5-4+ months. For winter, we have Florida (I’ll assume for argument’s sake that California will find some way to be a PIA)and the various SW states that grow stuff. We can trade with Chile and Brazil. I like avocados, but they have been expensive the past few years and I am used to using frozen minis, since there are only 2 of us. (I dislike most commercial guac).
I understand there is a mountain of protein in commercial deep freeze across the country.If so, then the meat producers and processors can weather a storm for several months. The soy-soaked progs can whine about flooded fields. It is what it is. We will all survive.
As for manufactured products, that’s a whole other can of worms and so is clothing and consumer items. Try thrift and consignment stores. Buy American. Learn to repair small engines. Take advantage of the 10 days left and stock up, if necessary.
Let’s make the progs live up to their professed desire for ‘simple and sustainable.’ If that means domestic production and relearning to eat seasonably, so be it.
The DOW is still at 24,800+. Savvy investors will reallocate to domestic producers. Or they will take profits and sit things out. It’s always something and as things stand, these foreign production schemes have not had the country’s best interests in mind to date.

Mexico will pay, by selling less to American consumers because of higher prices and having factories close as they move back to the USA to avoid a 25% tariff. You cannot win a war with someone 100 times more powerful than you are.
