No, I do not think he was aware of his legal rights.
That does not mean he did not have them, by law.
The police are supposed to protect those rights, not violate them.
They didn’t violate his rights.
What crime were they reasonably suspicious of?
Maybe he was just imitating the SimpliSafe spokesman?
I don’t know that but Dramamine will if a large dose is taken. I don’t think many police are taught to deal with peoples with a medical condition.
He reportedly wore that mask often. Notice he’s also wearing long sleeves in the video. His family said he always felt cold because he had anemia. A friend said the mask might’ve helped with his “social anxiety.” The cashier said he came into the store all the time wearing the mask.
More information:
Earlier today, I posted links to claims that he had autism. My post was on this thread for maybe 15 minutes when I found the mother’s Twitter feed. I asked the Mods to delete my post right away because I noticed that his mother, on Twitter, is offended by comments claiming that her son had “special needs” or a disability.
The mother did appreciate a comment that her son was “gifted.” Without a doubt, he was a special person, and I mean that in a good way. He was a massage therapist, and on his lunch breaks, he played his violin for cats in a shelter.
Still, anyone who says, “I’m an introvert. Please respect my boundaries that I’m speaking,” is literally saying that he has some kind of social anxiety.
What does the coroner's report say? Do you have a link to it?
A toxicology analysis revealed McClain had THC and other cannabinoids in his system when he was taken into the hospital. McClain was also hospitalized in 2016 for LSD intoxication with hyperactive and erratic behavior, according to the report..

To All: This young man DID have THC in his system.
Please see Post #69 by greatvikingone who provided links.
Okay so then he deserved to die?
i’m sure it was a THC overdose that killed him.
No! I didn’t say that. It’s still a tragedy.
But, the drug might explain his behavior.
It also complicates matters when determining cause of death.
What explains the behavior of the police and paramedics?
It also complicates matters when determining cause of death.
If the police bodycams show him complaining he can't breathe and is vomiting then it's so stretch to conclude that their restraint may well have contributed to his death.
Of course it did. The streets are littered with dead stoners.
Thanks.
Agreed. But, I argued on this thread that this young man might've had ASD.
Now I'm correcting myself because someone else gave more information: drug use (not a disability) might explain his reaction to the police encounter, and it also might've contributed to the cause of death.
So, the case is more complicated than it first appeared to be. A new investigation has been opened, though.
Thanks! “Hospitalized in 2016 for LSD intoxication.” So maybe it was something resembling schizophrenia from dropping acid in the past to the point of having an “acid hangover” and doing it again anyway for a bad trip.
I’ve seen it happen to others before. Some of them are long dead. Others are crazy for life. ...a cousin, a university student, a neighbor and others.
Some crazy psychologists are still pushing for LSD to be legalized for “therapy” along with evil drugs like MDMA and psilocybin mushrooms. They want to get the whole population wigged out and destroy the U.S.A. for their own delusional self-interests. Expect legislation for that from the Democrats.
And by the way, the main goal of the white BLM agitators is to get the police out of their way. Do you know why? They want the drug busts to stop. They want their drug abuse and crimes that stem from it (thefts, murders, etc.) to be legitimized or unpunished. They want their victims (their neighbors) to be helpless against their criminal activities. They’re foaming at their mouths, because they think that they’re on the verge of getting what they want.
This case sounds much like so many other cases that are blamed on "excited delirium" - which is a controversial topic. (Some say the condition only exists in police manuals.) The cases have a few factors in common: The person is having a psychotic episode and/or is under the influence of a substance (even just alcohol), and then an encounter with the police pushes the person over his limit - he becomes very strong and difficult to hold down. A struggle ensues, and his heart stops. At least, that's what is reported to happen in such cases.

No doubt about it. (In my humble opinion, though, prison should be reserved for violent criminals, not drug users.)
.....” the case is more complicated than it first appeared to be”......
That’s generally how it is when drugs or alcohol are involved. ...and it’s pretty standard criminals now cry they can’t breath whenever taken down or arrested.
As well anytime someone is taken down everyone and his mother’s uncle nearby shows up ....thus officers often will call for backup because spectators are so unpredictable today.
