Trump's Nominee To Succeed Ginsburg Would Cap A GOP Judicial Wave

President Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., already had remade the federal judiciary before the hinge of fate swung again on Friday night.

The Republican-controlled Senate has confirmed no fewer than 200 federal judges, many of them young, and each to a lifelong term, as NPR's Carrie Johnson has reported.

Two of those jurists included Supreme Court justices — Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh — and the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg now means that Trump can nominate a third. McConnell said on Friday night he intends to convene a vote on that nominee in the Senate, potentially before Election Day or Inauguration Day in January.

Conservative legal activists couldn't be happier about McConnell's project, which not only stocks lower-level federal courts with judges they believe will interpret the law in a way they support, but also creates a vast pool from which Trump now could select for a Supreme Court nominee.

"Filling all of these circuit seats is an unmitigated success, no downside to that," Carrie Severino, who leads the Judicial Crisis Network, told NPR's Johnson.

No, this just countered the Leftist wave of Obama and his nominees before it.

I love the whine about the lack of “diversity” among the nominees. As if the immutable characteristics of the nominees mattered instead of their qualifications.

“As if the immutable characteristics of the nominees mattered instead of their qualifications.”

That’s a political trick that Trump hasn’t fallen for.

Reagan vowed to appoint the first woman, and she totally sucked. A mush-mind who’s opinions reelected politics, not law.

And the democrats opposed Clarence Thomas and Janice Rogers Brown specifically BECAUSE they were black. There was no celebration of diversity.

Before I knew DJT would be the most consequential President of my 7 decades lifetime I voted for him because of his promise to appoint constitutionalists to the Supreme Court. He has delivered far beyond what I could have imagined at the time. Keeping promise after promise. Fundamental to that original promise is the immediate appointment of the next Justice. Senate republicans are duty bound to confirm as soon as possible. This is necessary not only to save their often sorry hides but to save the Nation itself. Was just watching Ingraham panel whom I mostly agreed with except for the idea advanced by Rasmussen, that it would be better for the President to announce the nominee but hold confirmation til after the election, making the nominee part of the choice for voters to make. Here’s the problem. First, this will deeply disappoint the millions who elected DJT for precisely this moment. Second, leaving open the possibility of deciding the judicial pick will motivate the left beyond anything currently in the arsenal of the Biden campaign who struggles to get 100 people to show up for anything. On the other hand, a confirmation victory pre election will likely so demoralize a constituency already low on enthusiasm that even the planned cheating will not help. This is it. We must ignore the shrieking demons in media, stand up to their threats of violence, and act, or die.

Trump and McConnell have done a fantastic job filling court openings.
This SC opening is no different. Both must move quickly
to fill this opening BEFORE the coming election. We will need that new
Judge seated for the coming election chaos and lawlessness and outright
fraud. Cruz summed up perfectly why this new Judge must be seated before
the election. Proceed with the vote.

Yup.

1). The biggest motivation Lefties have to vote forBiden is that Supreme Court seat. Filling it before the election takes that off the table.

2) we cannot afford the possibility of a 4-4 deadlock on the Supreme Court in the extremely likely event of a contested election. We all know we can’t trust Roberts.

Obama appointed 312 judges in 8 years. Trump 208 in less then 4. If the trend continues, trump will appoint more then 400.
