Trump sent cease-and-desist letters to stop the RNC, NRCC, and NRSC from using his name: report

Attorneys representing former President Donald Trump on Friday issued cease-and-desist letters to the Republican National Committee (RNC), National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), and National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) for "using his name and likeness on fundraising emails and merchandise," according to a Politico report.

Trump is reportedly upset that his name is being used without his permission by organizations that are backing Republicans who supported his impeachment, according to Politico.

Just yesterday, the RNC sent out emails requesting that supporters make donations for a card to "thank" Trump.

"President Trump will ALWAYS stand up for the American People, and I just thought of the perfect way for you to show that you support him!" the email stated. "As one of President Trump's MOST LOYAL supporters, I think that YOU, deserve the great honor of adding your name to the Official Trump 'Thank You' Card."

Another email was sent later in the day reminding supporters of a deadline for signing their names on the card.

According to Politico, GOP insiders said it was "impossible not to use Trump's name," as he boasts immense popularity with the party's base and with the low-propensity voters that fueled unexpected Republican wins in many Congressional races across the country in 2020.

GOP insiders said it was "impossible not to use Trump's name,"

He didn't ask that you not use his name, period. Just don't use it as a fundrasing or merchandising hook.

Policy matters should belong to the party. They don't need a name associated.

Adopt the popular policies. Be popular.

I never received as many GOP emails like I did after the election. AFTER the election.

Love the determination this guy has! Screw me? Screw YOU TWICE in return!

It may impact a *few* decent conservative candidates in the end, but so be it.

I cringe everytime I see Repubs -- even some of the good ones -- talking about Dems' overreach and how it's gonna usher in a flood of Rs in 2022. If those idiots keep ripping DJT, they're gonna be surprised at how many of us are finished with falling for their bait-and-switch game. It could be an historically low R turnout.

I know it's shaping up to be a cut-off-your-nose-to-spite-your-face situation, but I, for one, am tired of winding up on my back after whiffing on a placekick after the ball has been yanked away by the holder at the last second...

Good for him. Lame Mitch McConnell would love to use Trump to raise the money that makes him powerful. Trump is going to be the one who decides what stands for. Popcorn, please.

this does not say what people think that it says. DJT just wants control over the use of his name/likeness. he has already said that he supports the Republican Party; people at FR hate that he said it, but he said it.

trump can’t win without the republicans, and the republicans can’t win without trump. both parties understand this.

remove the parasitic assbites from OUR party

****************

Its not our party. The GOP is immune to any efforts to reform it. For decades they have been swatting off anyone who tries to change it.

The GOP is not conservative and never will be. It will never be our party.

In the 2020 presidential campaign it was a mistake for Trump to bundle his campaign fundraising with the RNC.

The RNC used a lot of that money to fund RINO campaigns rather than all for Trump. People who thought they were giving to re-elect Trump are now on the RNC mailing lists. The money you now give to the RNC will be under the control of McConnell and Cheney and their ilk.

So, good move on Trump’s part. Let him control the money to advance MAGA principles and not the uniparty agenda.

It’s not about Trump controlling his name/likeness.

It’s about creating financial pressure to force the RNC, NRCC and NRSC to get rid the RINOs who voted to impeach Trump and replace them with MAGA candidates.

Cut them them all off of the money in order to get rid of the impeachment voters.

When it came to donations over the last five years, I was very
careful never to donate to or through the RNC / GOPe platforms.

Some of their requests for money were very slick. They would
word it just right to make it seem like all funds would be going
to Trump.

Some of those funds will go to help Cheney and McCain.

None of mine will.

I praise Trump for cutting them off.

Let our money go for only the things it was intended for.

Also, I expect that the Trump “Miss Me Yet?” t-shirts will only be available from the Trump PAC.
