The Kentucky couple who came under fire for allowing their 6-year-old son to run in the Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati have revealed that they were visited by Child Protective Services.

Ben and Kami Crawford, of Bellevue, shared a photo on Instagram of an official interviewing Rainier, “who adamantly decided that he wanted to run a marathon.”

In the caption, they wrote that Child Protective Services arrived at their home unannounced on Friday “and interviewed our children because leaders in the community are calling running with children wrong.”

The family averaged 20-min miles for the whole family. Seems that is slow enough to rest occasionally and stay hydrated. I am surprised a 6-year old didn’t whine the whole way.

In Kindergarten I walked a mile alone to school and back every day.

The proper response to when CPS shows up at your door:\

“Neither I, nor my family members, answer questions from Law Enforcement, Agents of the state, or the press, without the presence of my attorney.”

and

“If you would like, you may submit your questions in writing and I will discuss with my attorney and we will provide you with the most appropriate response.”

There is a law prohibiting a 6 year old from driving. Is there a law about a 6 year old participating in a marathon?

I’m sorry but you are an idiot if you make dogmatic statements like that.
“ the photos the Crawfords posted on their social media accounts show a seemingly happy and obviously healthy family. Both parents ran the whole distance with Rainier, taking more than 81⁄2 hours to finish the distance, which they’ve pointed out is basically a walking pace. Their other children ran faster and waited toward the end of the course so the whole family could cross the finish line together.”

The family averaged 20-min miles

That's a normal walking pace.

FWIW, in case you may not be aware...

Water and Gatorade stations about every mile or less.
Further, one doesn’t just get up one day and run a marathon. It requires many weeks of training to build up to that distance. Most training puts you to at least 19 miles before you’re ready. If that level of training isn’t completed, you will most likely not finish the course due to extreme pain, fatigue and possible injury.

One full marathon, dozens of half marathons and many many 5 & 10k and ten miler races run and the one marathon was enough for me, because the training is very time consuming.

Having your 6 year old kid “run” for 8.5 hours is going to get someone’s attention

They would have had no problem if they had wanted him aborted on the delivery date. Or if they had wanted to cut off his testicles and had his penis turned into a vagina.

It’s perfectly fine if he wants to pretend he is a girl. CPS would step in to take the kid away if the parents tried to stop that.

The same crappy CPS visits mom & dad because the boy ran a race.

Is there anything CPS won’t hassle you about?

So, he can’t run a marathon but he can choose his gender.

URIs?

(I’m amazed that weak, fat people can actually complete a marathon. I trained for a half, and that was tough enough.)

My grandfather’s name was William Ferrell. A moderately famous poet. Wish this guy never showed up.
