President Biden on Monday called for police officers to be retrained so they’re taught not to use deadly force in every situation that requires them to fire their weapon.
The 80-year-old president’s comments came during the National Action Network’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Breakfast in Washington, DC, as Biden blasted Senate Republicans for blocking a police reform bill in 2021 that would’ve restricted the use of deadly force by law enforcement officers.
“We have to retrain cops,” Biden said. “Why should you always shoot with deadly force? The fact is if you need to use your weapon, you don’t have to do that.”

Biden made a similar suggestion about the use of deadly force by police on the presidential campaign trail in 2020, at the height of the George Floyd riots, arguing that police officers should be trained to shoot threatening individuals “in the leg instead of the heart.”
“Instead of standing there and teaching a cop when there’s an unarmed person coming at them with a knife or something, shoot them in the leg instead of in the heart,” Biden told African American community leaders in June of 2020 at Bethel AME Church in Wilmington, Delaware.

Because police try to use other methods before resorting to deadly force (because they no longer have an alternative).
Kneecap em or shoot them in the elbow.
So, can someone charged with assault with a deadly weapon claim they were not using the weapon in a deadly manner, use Biden’s words as support, and get off?
It’s a shame ol’ Diaper-Butt doesn’t have the same concern for the victims of violent crime perpetrated by mindless thugs.
I have to admit that there are times when Double tap to kill is not neccisary for the reasonable safety of officers. Like shooting a mentally disturbed man standing 50 feet away with a butter knife. But someone with a gun can kill them real fast. So options are much more limited.
Yeah, I agree with you
The legs become big targets
Head does too
Also basically gut and groin as well, those are really bad to be hit in, and the vests dont cover lower gut and groin
Sadly, some will hear his voice when no one is around to explain.
Just wing ‘em a la Barnaby Jones, eh Joey?
Shooting ‘to stop the person’ means going for a kill shot.
Every personal injury lawyer's dream is to push a wheelchair bound plaintiff in front of a jury. That's a guaranteed $20 million payday no matter the circumstances. No liability insurance is available to any city that trains its officers for leg shoots.
In some countries, the police are trained to go out of their way to avoid shooting perps, but they don't have a legal lotto system to worry about, nor a flood of violent criminals roaming free.
Like choo-choo trains, pew-pew pistols are an 1800s technology. Man catch traps, robo-cops and K9s, and drones with flying nets could be deployed to reduce the need to shoot perps, however there is not much interest from the general public. In America, there are just too many career criminals out there that need killing.
Freepers and their hard and fast gun battle rules
How many here have actually been in One
Combat vets here have different rules of engagement than cops or civvies do
Or should
“Shooting ‘to stop the person’ means going for a kill shot.”
My understanding is that saying your intent was, is, or will be to kill can land you in court. Your intent should be to “stop”. Whether the target ends up dead or wounded is secondary and if the target is still alive after being definitely stopped it’s not legal to kill them.
After Rule #1 is Rule #2- shut up.
it was friendly fire
He ie such an ignorant nitwit.
She’d probably hike up her skirt for anyone that asked about the tattoo on her thigh.
Biden just wants to give killers a sporting chance, maybe that is the way its done in Delaware.
