DeSantis says he would welcome bill to abolish 'corrupt' IRS: 'We need something totally different'
Fox News ^ | 27 May 23 | Kyle Morris

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said he would be "welcoming" of a measure from Congress to defund the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) if he's elected president next year.

The comments from DeSantis, who officially announced this week that he would seek the Republican presidential nomination in 2024, came during a conversation with radio host and Second Amendment advocate Dana Loesch on The Dana Show.

During the interview, DeSantis was asked whether he would sign a measure from Congress to abolish the IRS through funding means, as well as what he would replace the system with.

"Are you for a fair tax, a flat tax, where do you stand on that?" Loesch asked DeSantis.

"So, the answer's yes. I think the IRS is a corrupt organization and I think it's not a friend to the average citizen or taxpayer," DeSantis responded. "We need something totally different."

I've supported all of the single rate proposals, I think they would be a huge improvement over the current system and I would be welcoming to take this tax system, chunk it out the window and do something that's more favorable to the average folks."

DeSantis, who has repeatedly taken aim at the IRS for its unfair practices and crackdown on the middle class, said last August that an effort from the Biden administration to expand the IRS with 87,000 new agents was an indication of disrespect.

"Of all the things that have come out of Washington that have been outrageous, this has got to be pretty close to the top," DeSantis said at the time. "I think it was basically just the middle finger to the American public, that this is what they think of you."

And the easiest to raise with one fell swoop.

You can’t argue facts, so like a whiny liberal you resort to Ad Hominem attacks.

Go and kiss DeSantis’s rear and thank Rove for writing his scripts.

The only hope the DeSantis camp has is Trump in jail. You’d better believe they’re salivating at that prospect.

If the GOPe folds on the debt mess again there will be no republican congress in 2024 (possibly senate too) to present tax reform to any president elected so the whole tax thing is a moot point. The “red wave” never materialized last year and it is most obvious why, it would appear the days of voting for the lesser of evils is over and has been for some time.

I have not seen many DeSantis supporters say they would stay home if Trump wins the nomination.

But I have seen multiple Trump cultists say they will never vote for DeSantis, even if he wins the nomination.

I don’t remember him burning his house. But, I remember driving by the building while it was still smoking.

Black glass building on the south side of US 183 just west of Mopac Expressway in good ole Austin.

Sorry, but Trump has been head of this party since he won the nomination in 2016. That is his track record 1-6

I know you don't like me reminding people of Trump's win/loss record, but it is the record.

Do you have a mental illness?

Trump received endorsements from many RINOs. So what? That didn't make him a RINO.

This "guilt by association" or "guilt by endorsement" is not sane.

You couldn’t be more right. The corporate world, led by who I refer to as the U.S. Chamber of Crypto-Fascist Crony Commerce, is doing what the Marxist-Lennists do to their populations to quash liberty, ‘Control the message at all costs.’

If you haven’t already read Sundnace’s article in The Conservative Treehouse, entitled “Donald Trump’s America First -vs- Ron DeSantis and the Multinationals,” I urge you to do so. https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2023/05/26/donald-trumps-america-first-vs-ron-desantis-and-the-multinationals/

If you haven’t already read Sundnace’s article...

Sundance is a Trump cultist and has been responsible for many LIES about DeSantis.

Sundance, the cultist, also uses "guilt by association" or "guilt by endorsement" while ignoring the lousy people Trump has associated with and from whom he received (and gave) endorsements.

Yeah, it’s called the FairTax and it’s been around for a decade, reintroduced on the House floor under Speaker McCarthy.

If you have a clip of Pres. Trump talking about FairTax please post it, so we can compare his words/actions to those of Gov. DeSantis.

Going to be a popcorn worthy primary season.

This would also replace FICA, a combined 30% tax on you and your employer, which ultimately all comes out of your pocket. So any way you look at it, a 23% national sales tax is a huge tax cut for everyone, eliminating the need for a large IRS bureaucracy and catching billions in black market money because criminals buy stuff too.

It’s a win for everybody and if Trump had proposed it I bet you’d be all for it.

> "Do you pay 30% tax now?"

No, Jay or whatever your name is. That's not how the FairTax works. And DeSantis is pushing a Flat Tax which is an Income Tax, which always grows back to its monstrous self.

I'll explain in a moment why the FairTax isn't going to rip us off for 30% or whatever calculation is used.

But first to the real point:

And so it is with Karl Rove and his team of scumbag consultants who write the scripts for their boy DeSantis.

As for the FairTax, first read in #13 of this thread an eeny-weeny mini-primer on it.

Then, take the following simple short example:

Of course, there will be state taxes embedded/added on, but the point is the FairTax is a federal replacement tax.

To get a short primer on the FairTax as opposed to the history of the Income Tax, don't forget to see #13 of this thread.

And remember the Income Tax started out as a Flat Tax. A flat tax always grows into the monstrosity we have today, always

I propose:

Fifty tax bills! One to Each State!

Abolish the IRS completely! Send a tax bill to each state bases on the census population count. Let each state figure out how to collect the money.

Result:
The most efficient, least economically damaging, and compassionate way to raise tax revenue would emerge.

DeDummy thinks we are fools.

He’s pushing soundbites written to swoon conservatives. His scriptwriters are a group working under Rove. They think they know how to push conservatives buttons.

Like Stormy peddling her boobs, the Rovians using DeSenseless think we conservatives will gush at their concocted conservatives campaign confab.

Won’t work Morons!

Once was good but twice is better.

This speech has all the earmarks of cynical pandering. And from a guy whom many conservatives liked and listened to.

I wonder what they threatened him with?
