Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on Friday said he plans to talk to Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R-Wis.) about his expletive-laced confrontation with teenage Senate pages early Thursday morning.
“I haven’t been able to speak to him yet. I’ll call him today. I don’t know the situation, I saw what was reported,” McCarthy told reporters Friday.
“That’s not the norm of Derrick Van Orden,” McCarthy said.
McCarthy said that he had spoken to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) about the incident with the pages, who assist Senate operations. The two congressional leaders had a pre-planned meeting Thursday afternoon to discuss government funding.
McCarthy said the whole incident might be a “misunderstanding.”

“This is what he is worried about??”
He doesn’t sound worried.
Why doesn’t McCarthy speak to Schumer about supporting communism and threatening conservative Supreme Court justices?
Nothing important on McCarthy’s plate, so he can really focus on major events like swearing at peons...
So, the Senate Pages, aka Catamites, are acting up again?
Stop the yelling
Kick them in the nuts
Well the republicans are already the party of mean in reputation so why not have a republican yell at the young voters were try to influence to be republicans. Great move on the, “Get off my lawn.” Guy.
He’s back from Bohemian Grove?
Because ones a representative and ones a senator. Stay in the lane.
No impeachments, no one held in contempt.
McCarthy is more interested in hounding one of his own members.
Rep. Derrick Van Orden is a retired Navy seal.
Old habits die hard.
What McCarthy needs to be doing is polishing the man’s shoes and thanking him for his service to our country.
Nuts? This is the GOP you’re talking about.
I honor his service. But one habit that should have died hard is using profanity in public. It’s a bit incongruous to admonish the pages for not respecting the dignity of the Capitol by cursing at them in public like… well, like a sailor. If I want f bombs in public I’ll call Beto O’Rourke. Remember. “Profanity is the tool is the inarticulate m**********r!”
Schumer was a senator and implied threats against conservative Supreme Court justices. I think McCarthy should smack him with a baseball bat back into her lane.
“McConnell said he agreed with Schumer”
Well of course he did, nothing new there.
And who the hell would send their 16 or 17 year old into that den of perversion, drunks, and pedophiles?
The Republican Party is dead to me.
I’d like to see a similar bipartisan effort concerning an individual who has taken millions in bribes, repeatedly lied about involvement in his son’s sleazy business deals, whose entire family is on the take, and who may have diverted US policy either under blackmail or to aid the foreign interests who have paid him off. His name is Joe Biden and he is purportedly the President of the United States.
On the face of the story… I stand with Orden.
