Pastor Alistair Begg Says Christians Should Attend Gay Weddings So They Don’t Come Across as ‘Judgmental, Critical’
Protestia ^ | Jan 18, 2024 | Protestia Staff

Alistair Begg is the senior pastor at Parkside Church near Cleveland, Ohio and is perhaps best known for his syndicated radio program, Truth for Life. He has authored and coauthor of several books, including Preaching for God’s Glory, Name above All Names, and the Christian Manifesto. With a reputation as a sound teacher, he can occasionally be found on the conservative preaching circuit, and is a speaker at the upcoming Shepherds Conference alongside John MacArthur and Steve Lawson.

During a recent program of Truth for Life, Begg offers a scenario where a Christian woman called in saying that her grandson is about to marry a ‘transgendered person’ (either another man who has ‘transitioned’ to a ‘woman’, or a woman who has ‘transitioned’ into a ‘man’) and wants to know if she should attend the wedding.

Noting that “people may not like this answer,” Begg says that as long as grandson knows that she believes it is sinful and she does not agree with it, then she SHOULD attend the ceremony, and even buy them a gift, because if not, her absence will simply reinforce the fact that she is “judgmental” and “critical.”

The priest cried.

A priest performed a non-Christian wedding?!

There are none so judgmental as the leftist destroyers who push deviant weddings. With that in mind I believe I’ll be as judgmental as I damned well please.

God’s Wrath on Unrighteousness

Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.
Rom 1:19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.
Rom 1:20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
Rom 1:21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
Rom 1:22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools,
Rom 1:23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
Rom 1:24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves,
Rom 1:25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
Rom 1:26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature;
Rom 1:27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.
Rom 1:28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.
Rom 1:29 They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips,
Rom 1:30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,
Rom 1:31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.
Rom 1:32 Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

I love how these folks like to bring up “ye without sin cast the first stone” as if this means no one can be judgmental or disagree with someone, yet I never hear them mention what Jesus said next to the woman, go and sin no more.

“… Begg says that as long as grandson knows that she believes it is sinful and she does not agree with it, then she SHOULD attend the ceremony…”

That seems to me to be the height of hypocrisy and rudeness. I’d almost have more respect for Begg if just said accept the invitation. But making a knowingly,to the gs, inflammatory statement and then attending anyway is a greater sin.

I don't know why they even call them "weddings" anymore because they have none of the features of marriage... at all. The essential elements are missing and they know it.

It's just presumed that these relationship will be "open" to other sexual partners, and that if one of the partners disagrees with that arrangement, then THAT will be a just cause for dissolution and "divorce." Imagine that, just cause for divorce for OPPOSING infidelity?

Again, this is anything BUT marriage.

I don’t have any idea what I will do if it does happen.

I suggest that you should decide NOW what you plan to do. No need to tell anyone else your plans, but failure to plan is a plan for failure.

“Pastor Alistair Begg Says Christians Should Attend Gay Weddings So They Don’t Come Across as ‘Judgmental, Critical’”

Do you mean ‘Judgmental, Critical’ like the Bible does when it condemns the gay life style?

Those who do not judge are making a judgement.

We know this is true because everyone has a line they will not cross.

Everyone.

Our values are where we choose to draw those lines.

(The good book is clear that marriage is between one man and one woman.)

Agreed 👍.

The days of Lot are upon us.

Just as prophesied in the New Testament by Jesus Christ Himself:

Situations like this are inevitable, given the “nicer than Jesus” ethos of the American clergymen (even “conservative ones) and the placement of less than robustly masculine men in the pulpit. Half jokingly, I told my current pastor that if I had to find a new church, I would ask the senior pastor if he owned guns and liked beer. If the answer is no to both questions, I would move on. He noted that as a Baptist, he is a non drinker. My response - strike one. Fortunately, he owns a gun.

Fortunately I haven’t had to deal with that stuff much. Besides my parents, I can only think of a small number of good friends who didn’t remain married. Only one got remarried and it was after we lost touch.

I did have one skanky cousin who called to tell me that she left her husband and was getting married again (to the jerk who knocked her up)

I told her the batteries in the clock I gave her for her first wedding still worked so consider that her gift.

"We must stand up for traditional values, not bow down to the politically correct crowd."

Yup. One either serves man or serves God. Can't do both.

Regarding the disco post, I forgot to add, “no, I would not attend as well. I believe in the Bible marriage - none other.”

Being critical is not a vice. People who don’t think critically are known as “suckers”.

It is like eating food that you know has been offered to idols. If you do it it might be considered by others as implied consent to what is happening.

1 Thessalonians 5

21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

NOte, that there is a qualifier to the recommendation.

Also note how that is missed in discussion.

BUT, your presence endorses it no matter what you say. This is the problem of sin. It destroys relationships.

SO...... what do you do?

I have a great niece who is transgender. My mother would have said, “God created a beautiful young woman” REPEATEDLY until the echoes came back. I say it but so far, no echoes.
