The news just broke and hour ago.
Rest In Peace.

It said they were swept up in an ocean swell. Apparently it was nature and the ocean that killed them.

Because they probably died of drowning or exposure.

They know they are lost. To delay the announcement would delay insurance pay to their families.

Wasted by a government too pussified to stop ships like this with the 5 inch deck gun.

Don’t you think it’s a good idea to verify they are carrying arms before blasting them?

I don't understand- why would they be considered captured? They went overboard into the water and were never seen again at least 12 nautical miles from land ("international waters").
Who captured them?

This story doesn’t make sense to me.
The boat the SEALs took out was just manned by two SEALs?
One story said they boarded the dhow and detained 12 men.
It also said they sank the dhow.

Regardless of that, we still owe our guys a little respect.
The Sailor’s 23rd Psalm
The Lord is my pilot, I shall not drift.
He guides me across the dark waters.
He steers me through deep channels.
He keeps my log.
Yea, though I sail ‘mid the thunders
and tempest of life,
I shall dread no anger, for He is with me;
His love and His care, shelter me.
He prepares a quiet harbor before me.
He anoints the waves with oil.
My ship rides calmly.
Surely sunlight and starlight
shall guide me on the voyage I take,
And I will rest in the heaven’s port forever.
Amen.

As a merchant mariner and rescue diver I am not really buying this.
A "swell" took out a USN SEAL as he was attempting to board a boat?
...And two lives, the lives of two capital swimmers and operators, were lost on the surface?
And there's a mind-bogglingly massive search radius on what MUST have been a pinpoint target?
I hear Carter: "There is a deeper failure than incomplete success..."
...And I am not buying it.

It was also WARM water so no chance of hypothermia and surely they would have a beacon on them so why the need to search 21,000 square miles.
We’ve all been lied to by the Feds so much. In my life, the Warren Commission put me on guard, then the Tonkin Gulf Resolution, then more recently the weapons of Mass destruction in IRAG.....to name just a few lies.
It’s simply impossible to believe anything the government says anymore.

Here's a better one.Short version: a SEAL fell off the assault boat, and another went in the water after him to attempt rescue, while the boat continued on the mission. The dhow and its weapons were seized, and the dhow eventually sunk (it's unclear when). After the seizure of the dhow, the rest of the units in the area began a search for the two men in the water, but it was unsuccessful. (A note: the article states this all took place in 8-12 ft seas at night, without lighting)

The boat the SEALs took out was just manned by two SEALs? NO. It doesn't say THAT at all.
It says: During the attempt to board the ship from a small operations combat craft, a swell had caught one of the SEALs and pulled him underwater, with the second jumping in to attempt to save him, according to the press statement.
It doesn't say how many others were on the "small operations combat craft", but these vessels usually carry from 6-12 men.
