Arizona GOP Chairman Jeff DeWit allegedly attempted to offer money to Kari Lake to keep her out of the 2024 U.S. Senate race, in a recording posted on Tuesday.
In an audio recording obtained by the Daily Mail, the authenticity of which was confirmed by Lake to Just the News, DeWit allegedly made the offer to Lake in March 2023.
The Daily Mail confirmed with two sources that the identity of the other speaker on the recording was DeWit.
A transcript by the Daily Mail of the exchange is below:

"Just say, is there a number at which...." DeWit started.
Lake cut in: "I can be bought? That's what it's about."
"You can take a pause for a couple of years. You can go right back to what you're doing," DeWit said.
Lake repeatedly said she wouldn't do it for millions of dollars or a billion dollars.
"This is not about money, it's about our country," she said.
The Arizona GOP didn't immediately respond to requests for comment.
The correct words are 'you are' sometimes used in the contraction form ... 'you're'.. NOT 'your'.

A little complex for ya? Let me help you out, for over 2 decades she was a daily news reporter and news anchor for multiple news stations in multiple states. This opposed to DeSantis for example, who's only private sector job was working for 1 year as a school teacher for a bunch of adolescents.

I'm a big fan of Kari Lake, but she knew she was recording the conversation, so anything she said has to be looked at in that light.
She did the country a favor with this though.

1. Was this conversation a phone recording?
2. Does she have the original recording? If this was done at her home, it might be of better quality then any phone recording. Given her infotainment background she might have the skills to make a high-quality recording. That is to her advantage when releasing the recording to a third party to prove it’s not “artificial”.
She needs to release the recording to a honest broker third party for analysis.
