It is not prostate cancer, but was discovered during his recent treatment for an enlarged prostate.

The type of cancer has not been revealed, but according to a palace statement the King began "regular treatments" on Monday.

Buckingham Palace says the King "remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible".

Re: Not recurring

True - but, watchful waiting is a very common prostate status for millions of elderly men these days, who have suspicious, but slow growing, or unchanging, lesions in their prostate.

Most of them make the common sense decision to throw the dice and just ride out the low risk issues.

I had major abdominal surgery and remember the recovery period well. Hope she spends a lot of time resting and recovers well. She’ll be up to working from bed a lot sooner than working a welcome line. Just hope the kids aren’t jumping on her bed.

Looks like the boy’s gonna be taking over soon.I wonder if Chuck will have to wait a year to see an oncologist or cancer surgeon like the typical Brit does.

Queen Elizabeth reigned over 70 years. Methinks Charles may not last 7 years.

Reminiscent of Victoria and her son Edward II.

Read the Palace Statement again. 100 to 1 they found prostate cancer. Probably in the late stages.

interesting comment.
They are saying it is not prostate cancer...so perhaps they are carefully crafting the narrative and what he has is spreading cancer.

I hope Markle stays away from him

Yet today the British monarchy has declined to reflect what has become of Britain itself.

You apparently do not know that Parliament governs the country and that the king is just a figurehead. Since the end of WWII (and the end of the British empire), the monarchy has been little more than a tourist draw. The king (and his mother before him) is expected to stay out of politics.

Sometimes it is the other way around. My stage 3 Stomach Cancer prompted very strong four chemical (FLOT) chemo which obliterated it in the tumor and in related lymph nodes. Then they removed my stomach entirely along with the interior tumor and 15 nearby lymph nodes. The tumor was not just dead but gone with only a scar remaining. All lymph nodes were cancer free. They call that a Path C/R (meaning pathological complete response.). I then had more chemo for better odds at killing metastasizing cells.

This is similar to what I believe was done for Justice Ginsberg.

The lower cell anemia was how my colon cancer was diagnosed.

People have been concerned over the way Edward looks...gaunt, etc.

Andrew has to be quaking because I have no doubt that King William will be ruthless to Andrew...and Harry, too.

Wonder if the family really wants him anywhere near them..

It is safe to think the royal family notified Harry of his father's health challenge with the expectation Harry would pay his respects in person.

We know what we’re told.

That’s it.

Which would be far less of a problem if the House of Windsor didn’t have form, as the Brits say, for being fast and loose with the truth.

I tried looking up recent pics and, from what I saw, I guess he looks okay. I don’t have much to compare it to as I haven’t seen him much.

No, they are making it clear it is not prostate cancer. But they aren’t saying what it is which makes me suspicious. Maybe they are trying to downplay what might be the reaction if you heard the words “pancreatic cancer” or similar type of cancer.
