(KRON) — A Richmond man was arrested after a search of his home uncovered nearly a dozen military-style machine guns, 60 assault rifles and approximately 1 million rounds of ammunition, among other weapons and explosives, California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced Thursday. The suspect is alleged to be legally prohibited from owning any weapons.
The discovery of the large cache of suspected illegal firearms occurred on Jan. 31. Multiple agencies, including the California Department of Justice’s Bureau of Firearms and Contra Costa Anti-Violence Support Effort, served a search warrant at the Richmond residence in an effort to “retrieve guns from a prohibited individual,” the attorney general’s office said.
Through a search of the residence, the AG’s office said DOJ agents seized:
11 military-style machine guns
60 assault rifles
37 rifles
7 shotguns
133 handguns
Several suspected grenades
20 silencers
4 flare guns
3,000 large-capacity magazines
Approximately 1 million rounds of various caliber ammunition
Dozens of rifle receivers and pistol frames

Upon locating the grenades, the Walnut Creek Police Department Bomb Squad and Travis Air Force Base Bomb Squad were called to respond. The grenades were found to be inert, the AG’s office said.
“This arrest demonstrates exactly why the Armed and Prohibited Persons System is vital for the safety of our communities,” said Bonta. The Armed and Prohibited Persons System identifies individuals who had lawfully procured firearms and then later became prohibited from owning or possessing them.
“I am grateful for our Bureau of Firearms agents’ and local law enforcement partners’ work in getting these illegal weapons out of the hands of this prohibited individual,” Bonta said.
The man’s identity and the location of his residence in Richmond were not shared by the attorney general’s office.
This is What gun grabbing California has created. A rich guy collection that was incrementally made illegal and one can’t shoot them Or Sell them and then PoPo has
“Cause” and POOF it’s gone and you’re
In The Lockup.
I like that attitude!
That sort of stuff doesn’t sound like the stock an illegal arms dealer would have. Maybe he is some rich dude with a felony conviction of some white-collar crime years ago? Although other comments make it sound like a lousy area to live in, so maybe he is a “real” criminal.
IMHO, if anybody is deemed okay to be out in public and not in prison, then they should also be deemed to be okay to have guns and vote. If not, keep them locked up.
Like maybe he is a collector? I have known many collectors that have class 3 friearms and do not shoot them or sell them.
It is like collecting high end art work.
Maybe an angry ex tipped off the po po? A false flag situation?
I’ve got a container of 9mm that says 500 rounds and is about 3” by 6” by 6” inches (108 cubic inches). A cubic foot is 1,728 cubic inches, so that would be about 16 of those boxes, or about 8,000 rounds of 9mm in a cubic foot.
With rifle rounds, etc., lets say that it was overall 1,000 rounds per cubic foot.
1 million /1,000 is 1,000 cubic feet. So a 10’x10’x10’ stack of ammo. Surprised me - that isn’t that big and is doable. As long as the floor is concrete!
(If it was all 9mm, it would be about 5’x5’x5’).
I’m sure somebody will correct my math though!
“It is like collecting high end art work.”
I wonder if it was high end artwork they found if they would have just laid them out on the gravel like that?
Achmed?
For Paladin to carry a “cache of weapons and 1 million rounds of ammo” from place to place he’d need to borrow the Borax 20 mule team from the start of Death Valley Days. Ronald Reagan appeared in 21 episodes. Sue Randall also appeared before playing Miss Landers who taught Wally and Theodore Cleaver.
“IMHO, if anybody is deemed okay to be out in public and not in prison, then they should also be deemed to be okay to have guns and vote. If not, keep them locked up.”
100% agreed!
So something we should all aspire to?
A man without standards is indistinguishable from an animal.
“The suspect is alleged to be legally prohibited from owning any weapons.”
Tomorrow morning Congress will be adding yet another useless ‘law’ to punish legal gun owners and give felons a pass.
*Rolleyes*
He is probably a hunter of Squirrels.
High end collector. Some of those toys are high dollar and extremely rare.
And now... the sh*t head Commies in Kalifornistan are going to melt them all down... except those that end up “falling off the truck” and into some corrupt cops trunk...
This is what happens when the “thin blue line” reminds you that it wears a Big Black Boot and doesn’t give a sh*t about your Rights.
I loved the Grease Gun! No safety, no select fire only full automatic fire. Yep. That’s a respectable cache of weapons and ammo. Where was this?
bkmk
Dale Robertson did the last season, he was my favorite host. But HGWT was my favorite western. Yancy Derringer was great, but there were so many good shows, like Bat Masterson. Maybe he borrowed James West’s train.
As empathetic as I am to the possibilities that this is just more gun grabbing lunacy out of California, I can’t overlook the alleged “legally prohibited” status of the individual.
When was this “legally prohibited” status conferred; long before, or the day of when they found out how much stuff was there??
If long before, it doesn’t seem to support the “Collector” concept; those guys typically keep their FFLs squeaky clean, and DON’T operate in CA.
My sneaky gut smells gangland/BLM connectivity with it being Richmond, but I suppose we’ll see; here in CA a cache this big isn’t likely to vanish down the memory hole.
Looking at that collection? That was a 30-40 year journey and not some bangers BS.
Keep in mind... Kalifornistan has been increasing it’s list of what “disqualifies” you to exercise your 2A. Speaking ill of the government on up...
This gopher got his head above the berm and they are going to cut it off...
Right, or wrong.
A footlocker would hold 100,000 easy.
