We must be vigilant and cautious of the insidious influence that Hollywood exerts over our society, as it systematically erodes our traditional heroes and replaces them with controversial figures that do not align with our values and beliefs

Irony that a show giving out awards for entertaining is not entertaining.

Hollywood, so passe these days. They went from the golden age to the dump. I’d take a black and white 30’s - 40’s film over the car chase and body count stuff of today. I remain disappointed ever since “Idiocracy” never got an award for the best documentary.

We enjoy the new station on our system that only shows old Western shows. Good storytelling, plenty of action, great scenery - and no lefty political views or DEI shoved down our throats.

We especially like “Tales of Wells Fargo.”

But it was the highest rated Oscars in the past four years so there's that, and only because people actually went and saw two of the nominated films.

Oscars will never enjoy the viewership numbers they had back in the glory days of the 70s-90s because people aren't seeing the films today that get nominated and don't have an interest in who wins for performances they never watched.

I saw Oppenheimer...in IMAX...and I have the 4k disc. Great film. Apart from that I have no interest in what was covered the other night.

I’d take a black and white 30’s - 40’s film...

I watched an early 1933 Barbara Stanwyck film titled 'Baby Face' last night on TCM. Not a great film, but very interesting, and the 26-year-old Stanwyck was gorgeous. Today's Hollywood has completely lost the art of film-making.

Bearer of bad news here: 19 million is a big turnout for broadcast tv nowadays. Over 2x some of the biggest long show finales.

I think the tuner in our tv is actually used 1 night/year -— New Years, and usually to discover we are not actually interested, and turn it back off (my wife has high hopes...).

I suspect many folks lie in this category (or even less).

Hollywood has lost its soul—its about making money—not pleasing the left wing mob or the CCP. To make money you must produce films that a majority of people want to see. Fail in that and like the old Soviet Union Film makers, you are making movies that people are forced to watch about the “New Communist Man’ and singing peasants on collective farms praising Uncle Joe Stalin. Life is good in the electric tractor factory, Comrade.

Most of the movies suck with wokeness and homo love scenes. Good storeis are no longer abundant. Just lectures and smut.

“TV ‘movies’ like Yellowstone or name your favorite, are much better than the crap that comes out of Hollywood.”

I concur, many are quite good. The First Mate and I are working our way thru ‘Marco Polo’ TV series. It is very engaging but alas, much like ‘Shogun’ there are no negroes in it. The facts are that in the thirteenth century 99% of the negro race was to be found in sub-Saharan Africa and certainly not in Mongol controlled China. Whooda thunk it ...

You are correct. Hollywood revenues are way down and most of the movies are just sequels of once-successful movies.

They’re like an aging rock star whose fans still like their songs from the 80’s.

Oppenheimer celebrated communism. It was awful and boring.

Killers of the Flower Moon Trashed whites. Yeah whites did some awful stuff to the Indians. But it was a one sided piece of crap. And boring. I expect more from Marty.

YouTube has far better entertainment than the crap these cretins put out...and I get to choose (for now) what I want to watch/hear.

...over having to listen to some sniveling, no talent twerp like JK...and his fellow Bolshevik, brain-fornicating satan-stools.

I agree with you. Oppenheimer was boring, and a movie like Barbie shouldn’t even been considered as Oscar worthy. I remember the old movies, like The Godfather, and the current movies out there don’t even come close.

"I truly didn’t even know that the Oscar’s had occurred."

Are they even making movies with higher ratings than their "award show"?
