The Vatican’s doctrine office will publish a new document next week on discerning Marian apparitions and other supernatural events.

The Holy See Press Office announced on Tuesday that Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández, the prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith (DDF), will unveil new norms for discernment regarding “apparitions and other supernatural phenomena” on Friday, May 17.

In an interview with the National Catholic Register, CNA’s sister news partner, last month, Fernandez said that the document will provide “clear guidelines and norms” for discernment.

The new norms will be the first time that the Vatican’s doctrinal office has issued a general document on apparitions in four decades. Pope Paul VI approved norms on “the discernment of presumed apparitions or revelations” in 1978.

Show me in Scripture where it says that everything a Christian needs to believe is found in Scripture. Surely such a foundational doctrine would be explicitly found there. Don't bother with 2 Timothy 3:16 because it only says that Scripture is "useful" or "profitable," not sufficient.

However, it DOES say *complete* and *equipped for every good work*. That's pretty sufficient.

Pretty convenient for you all to reject off hand the Scripture that disproves your argument against the Bible alone being sufficient for spiritual growth in Christ.

It's pretty staggering the chutzpah of Catholics to continually tell god that what HE provided that HE said was sufficient is not good enough. But it's pretty on par for Catholicism which does that from beginning to end because the things they add to faith in Christ as requirements for getting and staying saved is astounding. The Pharisees of Jesus' day would be jealous.

The RC enters a grey area on do they have to believe the apparition or not. Numerous popes clearly support these apparitions to their detriment and those who follow (?) the pope.

If these apparitions can be accepted or rejected by the RC their reflex to defend these apparitions and their un-Biblical suggests they are to be accepted.

If one compares the messages of the apparitions one finds they contradict Scripture.

God doesn’t contradict Himself. Anything that does contradict Him is to be rejected.

I'm sorry you raised that way, but that does not reflect the entirety of Catholic teaching--not by a long shot.

A mere technicality and the out every Catholic uses when confronted with what people learn from Catholicism./ Technicality about RCC teaching is meaningless unless it's translated into action.

Veto!'s experience is hardly unusual and the Catholic church is just as guilty between the priests and nuns telling you the same thing, being threatened constantly that if you don't do X, Y, And Z you're going to go to hell anyways, no matter how many other Catholic hoops you've jumped through, and at the very best, the most you can hope for is an extended stay in purgatory to burn for an undetermined amount of time. And then when you've suffered enough, you'll be allowed to get to heaven, hopefully.

Some loving God Catholicism presents.

BTW, works and hoop jumping to get and stay saved is NOT mercy nor grace. Both are undeserved, given freely by the giver, not earned or *merited* (another word for earned) by the recipient.

I don’t need to see the document from the pope (presumes of course you recognize him as the pope) to know the messages of the apparitions are false.

While I personally think many are imaginary, There’s no real denying that our Creator can send apparitions if he wishes

But He doesn't need to because he sent Jesus instead.

And the argument that *God can do anything He wants* doesn't mean He does or that people can fabricate stuff and claim He did it and we have to believe it because it might have been possibly something God may have done.

“Then you’re not paying attention”

Have at it, go get em.
Could probably find a battlefield in Europe where a Protestant vs Catholic war was fought.
Just got there and see if you can restart a war with them .

It’s not like we don’t have a written resource we can go to.

Spot on. I can only imagine what would happen to Rome if they were to admit their errors regarding their Marian dogmas.

Let’s save them the time. They’re bogus.

Of the same species as UFO encounters, bigfoot, etc.

It’s hilarious how these dudes think some written document by some obscure ‘Bishop’ or other man made title give to another Scripture Denier is framed and worshipped as if it’s worth more than the Holy Bible written by The Lord God Himself.

This is the basic definition of a cult.

‘Marian Mysteries’ and ‘Mysteries’ of the ‘faith’ are all deceptions from the pit of hell.

What a bizarre world they live in.

Ephesians 6:11-13 says, “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness in this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Not part of an armor but the whole armor.

John 15:26 ERV “I will send you the Helper from the Father. The Helper is the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father. When he comes, he will tell about me.

You see, Jesus didn't leave us a man made denomination but the Holy Spirit to guide us. That's everything a man needs to believe, else you think the Bible is lying.

Some of the most awesome Evangelicals I’ve ever met - with a fire for The Lord are former RC’s.

Some of the most awesome Catholics are former Protestants.

——>Vatican To Publish New Document On Marian Apparitions Next Week

I’m waiting on the document that calls for Sunday Legislation. Oh, wait, that already came out. The mark of the beast is closer than most realize. And, of course, they are totally clueless.

APOSTOLIC LETTER
DIES DOMINI
OF THE HOLY FATHER
JOHN PAUL II
TO THE BISHOPS, CLERGY AND FAITHFUL
OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH
ON KEEPING THE LORD’S DAY HOLY

https://www.vatican.va/content/john-paul-ii/en/apost_letters/1998/documents/hf_jp-ii_apl_05071998_dies-domini.html

“Therefore, also in the particular circumstances of our own time, Christians will naturally strive to ensure that civil legislation respects their duty to keep Sunday holy.”

“Pope Leo XIII in his Encyclical Rerum Novarum spoke of Sunday rest as a worker’s right which the State must” guarantee.

With respect to more than one Marian apparition, This One has taken the trouble to examine the message, and has not so found.

So you’re saying that, like RWC, you’re Catholic.

Come back home, MM. The streetlights are on and it’s getting late.

If you think that you’ve been completely deceived.

Do you wear the scapular and/or miraculous medal?

Some of the most awesome Catholics are former Protestants.

Not the ones I knew personally. The worst one was someone I worked with for years who was the most conceited snot and very proud and arrogant about her conversion. she was clearly better than everyone else and let them know it.

No, I’m NOT Catholic.

Baptism was done to me without my consent or permission. I had no choice in the matter.

And no, Catholicism is NOT my *home*.

Thanks for proving my point though about the control aspect Catholicism tries to exert over anyone who happened to be sprinkled by a priest as a baby. You all just won’t let go but try to control a person’s life whether they want it or not.

I belong to JESUS, not a religion.

You’re appear to be exercising your God-given free will.

Were you to experience a change of heart and revert, you and RWC would set excellent examples for many.
