Carey School of Business plans to offer full scholarships to all incoming full-time M.B.A. students. The goal is to attract students with nontraditional backgrounds and career aims, and kick off a new business curriculum, leaders say. Arizona State University (ASU) is offering a course on “the problem of whiteness,” which is being taught by a white professor. The course, ENG 401: “Studies in American Literature/Culture: U.S. Race Theory & the Problem of Whiteness,” is being offered this spring at ASU’s Tempe campus. The course is being taught by Lee Bebout, an assistant professor of English at ASU. His faculty page lists critical race theory as one of his research interests.

Arizona State University football player Edward "Chip" Sarafin has come out as gay, according to Compete Magazine. In the magazine's August issue, the offensive linebacker said he told his teammates last spring. "It was really personal to me, and it benefited my peace of mind greatly," he said. Arizona State University announced Thursday that it is severing ties with a fraternity after the chapter hosted a distasteful party in commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, replete with racist stereotypes and offensive costumes. The school said in a statement that it has notified Tau Kappa Epsilon its recognition as a fraternity chapter at ASU has been permanently revoked. Revoking recognition means the 65-year-old local chapter is no longer affiliated with ASU, the group won't be listed on the university's website and it cannot recruit members or hold on-campus meetings. …

On Friday night's Hannity show on Fox, Rep. Michele Bachmann said (I believe) that an Arizona State University study reveals that in the last 9 months, the federal gov't has confiscated 30% of the private wealth of the country. She mentioned, of course, that adding health care to this would add another 18%, meaning almost 1/2 the wealth in the US would belong to the gov't. Does anyone know how to find this study?
