I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Atlanta is not burning. Bodies are not piled up in the streets. Hospitals in Georgia are not being overwhelmed; in fact, they are virtually empty. There is no mad rush for ventilators (remember those?). Instead, men, women, and children in the Peach State are returning to some semblance of normal life: working outside their homes, going to restaurants and bars, getting haircuts, exercising, and most important, spending time with their friends and families and worshipping God. The opening that began more than three weeks ago is continuing apace. Oh, my...

ATLANTA, Georgia — Vice President Mike Pence defended Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp against establishment media and leftist critics who just weeks ago inaccurately predicted widescale doom as Georgia moved to aggressively reopen its economy ahead of schedule. “Let’s be clear: Gov. Brian Kemp has proven them wrong every day,” Pence said when Breitbart News asked him and Kemp during a press gaggle to respond to critics throughout the media and left who ripped Kemp at the outset of the reopening process. “The people of Georgia have proven them wrong every day.” The vice president’s praise of Kemp’s handling of the...

Georgia State Representative Vernon Jones, an African American Democrat, t0ld Joe Biden that he was not “entitled” to black support after the former vice president said black voters who were not sure who to vote for in the upcoming presidential election “ain’t black.” “I’ve been black all my life. But I’ve never been anyone’s property, especially not @JoeBiden,” Jones tweeted. “You’re not entitled to black support, Joe. You haven’t even earned it.”

On the day of the shooting, Arbery was spotted walking around an open construction site and the McMichaels pursued him in a pickup truck, according to the police report. When they passed Bryan's home, Bryan got in his own vehicle and followed, The New York Times reported. When Arbery ran around the McMichaels' car, Bryan tried to block him, Gregory McMichael told investigators. Arbery ran past Bryan's car, too, and the two vehicles reportedly turned around and continued pursuing him. At 1:14 p.m., Bryan took the video of Travis shooting Arbery, the Times said. McMichael told police he thought Arbery...

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has arrested the man who recorded cellphone video of Ahmaud Arbery being shot and killed. William “Roddie” Bryan, 50, shot the video that showed what appears to be Gregory and Travis McMichael shooting and killing Ahmaud Arbery while he was out jogging in February. In a news release, the GBI said it charged Bryan with felony murder and criminal contempt to commit false imprisonment.

The Atlanta lawyer who has joined the legal team representing the family of Ahmaud Arbery—who said he is working on litigation related to the fatal shooting, and predicts that “there’s going to be a ton of people getting sued”—certainly has experience in police shooting cases where video plays a crucial role. In a phone interview with the Daily Report Thursday, L. Chris Stewart of Stewart Trial Attorneys would not give details of planned lawsuits, but he said he will serve as local counsel for S. Lee Merritt of Philadelphia, the civil rights attorney representing Arbery’s mother. Civil rights attorney Ben...
  • Experience mattered in 2016 and Stacey Abrams doesn't have it for 2020

Jennifer Rubin may have forgotten most everything she ever knew before 2016, but she at least appears to have retained the knowledge that experience stands for something. She otherwise wouldn’t have dedicated an entire column on Wednesday to calling anyone who questions Abrams’s experience — what else? — racist. . . . Let it be known that filing paperwork to register the name of a nonprofit group and give a speech on TV are now major “accomplishments” on a presidential level, according to Rubin. Abrams has, of course, done some things. She won a state-level seat in several races, wherein...

Stacey Abrams is running a less-than-subtle campaign to be Joe Biden’s vice-presidential running mate. Republicans should hope she succeeds. If selected, she would displace Sarah Palin as the least-qualified person ever to serve on a major-party ticket. Biden should understand this, because he saw firsthand how much damage Palin’s selection did to then-Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), the Republican presidential nominee in 2008. Preelection polls showed that 6 out of 10 Americans said Palin was not qualified for the job, and a Stanford University study found that she cost McCain more than 2 million votes.

Ever since he matured from Marxist revolutionary to conservative heavyweight champ, the American left has felt free to smear Clarence Thomas. Ever since he matured from Marxist revolutionary to conservative heavyweight champ, the American left has felt free to smear Clarence Thomas in ways they’d scream “racism!” at if he were still one of them. It’s a half-century reminder of which political team consistently weaponizes a twisted conception of racism to obtain power at any cost, instead of recognizing racism as a moral evil with objective standards of transgression that apply equally to all.In this reprehensible tradition, The New York...

The first known contender to be asked for those references is New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, per an anonymous individual with knowledge of the request in the report. It did not report any other women on Biden's vice presidential consideration list who received such a request. Lujan Grisham has told her allies in recent days that Biden's team had begun vetting her to be his running mate, Politico reported on Tuesday.

Newly released police bodycam video shows Georgia slay victim Ahmaud Arbery being handcuffed and arrested for shoplifting in 2017. The video, dated Dec. 1, 2017, shows Arbery and three teenagers being confronted by police in the parking lot of a Walmart shopping center, according to the footage posted on YouTube on Tuesday. “Tell me about the TV,” a police officer asks. “TV? What? We don’t have any TV,” Arbery, wearing shorts and a parka, responds. “What about the 65-inch TV?” the cop says. “Sixty-five inch TV?” Arbery says. “Do me a favor,” the cop replies. “All of you take a...

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTGS) — A judge from outside the coastal Georgia community where Ahmaud Arbery was fatally shot has been appointed to preside over trial proceedings of the two men charged with Arbery's murder, including one defendant with close ties to law enforcement. Court documents filed in Glynn County show that Superior Court Judge Timothy R. Walmsley was appointed to the case after all five judges in the legal circuit where Arbery was killed recused themselves. Walmsley is based in Savannah, about 70 miles (110 kilometers) north of where the slaying occurred just outside the port city of Brunswick.

The governors of Georgia and Colorado have at least one thing in common. They both took steps to reopen their states' economies in late April amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. But for some reason, the media's coverage of Gov. Brian Kemp (R., Ga.) has been slightly different from the media's coverage of Gov. Jared Polis (D., Colo.). Kemp, for example, has been accused of experimenting with "human sacrifice." So reads the headline of an April 29 article published in the Atlantic, which accuses Kemp of turning Georgia residents into "unwilling canaries in an invisible coal mine, sent to find out...

Former Vice President and the presumptive 2020 Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is looking to expand the number of swing states in play in this November’s election, targeting Republican-leaning states in his bid to unseat President Donald Trump. Alongside traditional battleground states like Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, and New Hampshire – the former three of which Trump won in 2016 – the Biden presidential campaign believes it can bring traditionally reliable GOP states into play, like Texas, Georgia, and Arizona, which hold a combined 65 electoral votes, or nearly a quarter of the 270 needed to win the election. Georgia became an "experiment in human sacrifice" and "leads the race to become America's no. 1 Death Destination." Those were among the many warnings from the mainstream media in April in reaction to the announcement by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp lifting many of the lockdown restrictions on April 24 that had been imposed due to the coronavirus outbreak. Of course, you won't be seeing much of those doom and gloom predictions now since, nearly a month later, those dire prognostications simply did not come to pass. In fact, Georgia, along with other states such as Florida, are seeing a decline...

Looks like opening up Georgia has NOT been the disaster that the media predicted/prayed for Trump should be loudly crowing about these results, since he says he wants America to reopen. Unfortunately, Trump loudly criticized Gov Kemp when Kemp opened up, so Trump would have to eat some crow if he made a statement now Still, Trump ought to be big enough to admit that Kemp did the right thing, and we need to stop being slaves to Fauci and Birx

A wise admonition — and one that might have saved Ahmaud Arbery’s life if Bob Rubin’s and Jason Sheffield’s client had stuck to it in the first place. The two attorneys argued yesterday “there is more to the story” of why Travis and Gregory McMichael tracked down and killed Arbery, and scolded people on their assumption of guilt without hearing the whole truth. “That’s the purpose of a trial,” Rubin intoned at a press conference late yesterday afternoon. Consider this today’s entry in the Someone Left the Irony On Department, with due hat-tip to MAD Magazine. Be sure to watch...

Biden praised Abrams in his response, but did not announce her as his running mate. “Well, because Stacey Abrams has done more to deal with the fair vote and making sure there is a fair vote than anybody and she has a great, great capacity to explain things and the layout, exactly why it’s gonna be so critically...

Georgia's success in reopening its economy should serve as an example to leaders across the country who are hesitant to lift their coronavirus-induced lockdown orders, Tucker Carlson said Thursday. The "Tucker Carlson Tonight" host praised Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, who last week reported that his state had its lowest number of hospitalized coronavirus patients since hospitals began reporting in early April. The good news came just days after Kemp moved forward with his reopening plan, despite strong opposition from leaders on both sides of the aisle. "The decision was described ... as the most reckless public health decision since 9...
