Congress unveiled the first six appropriations bills on Sunday to fund the government for most of 2024. The rollout of the appropriations bills follows Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and other congressional leaders striking a deal to avert a government shutdown and fund the government for most of 2024. The six appropriations bills would fund the Departments of Agriculture, Interior, Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, Veterans Affairs, Justice, Commerce, and Energy. The bipartisan package amounts to 1,050-pages and includes more than $450 billion in funding for the fiscal year 2024.

Senator Mike Rounds (R-SD) said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY)’s successor needed to be independent from former President Donald Trump. Partial transcript as follows: JON KARL: By the way, I should point out that the former president’s had some choice words for you as – as you no doubt know. I think he called you – or questioned whether or not you were crazy or just stupid, a jerk, a RINO, a weak – anyway, we could go on. But – but how important is it for whoever the Senate leader is to...

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) announced Friday she is endorsing former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley in the GOP presidential primary against former President Trump. “I’m proud to endorse Gov. Nikki Haley,” Murkowski said in a statement. “America needs someone with the right values, vigor, and judgment to serve as our next President—and in this race, there is no one better than her,” she continued. “Nikki will be a strong leader and uphold the ideals of the Republican Party while serving as a President for all Americans.” Murkowski, the first GOP senator to endorse Haley in the race, was among seven Republican...

Republican presidential candidate former Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC) said Friday on CNN’s “Inside Politics” that “no president should ever be above the law” when asked about the Supreme Court hearing arguments on former President Donald Trump’s claims of presidential immunity. Anchor Dana Bash said, “I want to start with what’s happening with Donald Trump today. He’s back in Florida for one of the federal cases against him. Meanwhile, in another, the January 6, case, the Supreme Court announced this week that it would hear arguments in April about whether or not he will get his push for immunity. This means...

Senator John Cornyn (RINO-TX) has officially entered the race to succeed Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (RINO-KY). As The Gateway Pundit reported yesterday, the 82-year-old McConnell announced he would be stepping down as leader of the Senate GOP in November. Cornyn, in a statement, explained why he decided to run to succeed McConnell. “I am asking my Republican colleagues to give me the opportunity to succeed Leader [Mitch] McConnell. I have learned a lot during my time both in and out of Senate leadership. Throughout my time, I’ve built a track record of listening to colleagues and seeking consensus while leading...

Former Rep. Justin Amash (I-Mich.) announced Thursday that he’s launching a long-shot bid for retiring Sen. Debbie Stabenow’s (D-Mich.) seat. Amash left the Republican Party in 2019 following his criticism of former President Trump and switched to independent, however he is running in the GOP primary for the Senate seat. “Regardless of who wins the White House and Congress, the United States will remain deeply polarized,” Amash wrote in a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, as he announced his candidacy. “What we need is not a rubber stamp for either party, but an independent-minded senator prepared to challenge...

Sen. Mitch McConnell's retirement announcement has rendered him into a lame duck that cannot effectively fight for America and stop the totalitarian "Democratic" Party. Who is going to try to make a deal with Mitch McConnell unless the deal entails McConnells preemptive surrender? This act of unnecessary self-castration by McConnell is emblematic of the disease epitomized by the Bush, Romney, and Cheney crime families. Only someone who wanted to lose would come up with a stupid stunt like this. The dirty fingerprints of the quisling wing of the Uniparty are all over this mess. As useless as McConnell already was...

WASHINGTON (AP) — Mitch McConnell, the longest-serving Senate leader in history who maintained his power in the face of dramatic convulsions in the Republican Party for almost two decades, will step down from that position in November.McConnell, who turned 82 last week, was set to announce his decision Wednesday in the well of the Senate, a place where he looked in awe from its back benches in 1985 when he arrived and where he grew increasingly comfortable in the front row seat afforded the party leaders.“One of life’s most underappreciated talents is to know when it’s time to move on...

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A prominent Republican National Committee member is proposing two resolutions that would put some distance between the national party and former President Donald Trump — at least for a little bit longer. The first resolution from Henry Barbour — a longtime member from Mississippi — would prohibit the national party from coordinating with Trump or fundraising with his campaign until he wins enough delegates to be the party’s presumptive nominee. The draft resolution, in part, states: “The Republican National Committee and its leadership will stay neutral throughout the Presidential primary and not take on additional staff from...

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), the GOP’s official body tasked with aiding Republican candidates for U.S. Senate, is urging them to “clearly and concisely” reject restrictions on in vitro fertilization (IVF). The Alabama Supreme Court ruled last Friday that frozen embryos qualify as children and are therefore protected by state law. “The text of the Wrongful Death of a Minor Act is sweeping and unqualified,” argued Justice Jay Mitchell in the majority opinion. “It applies to all children, born and unborn, without limitation. It is not the role of this Court to craft a new limitation based on our...

New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) said Thursday he was very optimistic about the future of the Republican Party and the country, saying former President Trump “won’t be here” forever and, at some point, the GOP will no longer be loyal to him. “People confuse the party with Trump,” Sununu said in an interview with Politico’s Eugene Daniels, who responded by noting that “it’s Trump’s party.” “That’s the point,” the governor responded. “It won’t be his party forever, right? It just won’t. At some point, Donald Trump won’t be here or whatever, you know. One way or another, we all...

Anti-Trump Republicans New Jersey state Sen. Jon Bramnick and radio host Bill Spadea are vying to become the first Republican to win the Garden State governor’s mansion since Chris Christie in 2009. Bramnick and Spadea hope to replace outgoing Gov. Phil Murphy (D), who is term limited. Bramnick is an avowed moderate Republican and hopes to flip the governor’s mansion red, albeit with his anti-Trump flare. He hopes to buck the trend as Republicans have increasingly embraced former President Donald Trump as the leader of the GOP.

Republican presidential candidate former Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC) said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that if former President Donald Trump were allowed to put loyalists in charge of the Republican National Committee, there would not be any money left to win control over the House and Senate in 2024. Anchor Jon Karl said, “As you have talked about as well, Trump is engineering a takeover of the Republican National Committee, and he wants to make his daughter-in-law the co-chair.”

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah), who voted twice to convict former President Trump on impeachment charges, is ruling out voting for Trump in 2024, citing a court’s finding that the former president sexually abused E. Jean Carroll in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room in the 1990s. Romney’s announcement that he won’t vote for Trump isn’t surprising. But it does show him sharpening his rhetoric against the front-runner for the GOP presidential nomination by saying the reason for his opposition is a Manhattan jury’s finding last year that Trump sexually abused and defamed Carroll, awarding her $5 million in damages. A New...

Former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) is leading or tied with his top two potential Democratic challengers in the Maryland Senate race, according to a poll released Thursday. The Emerson College Polling/The Hill/DC News Now survey found Hogan leading Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks (D) in a hypothetical match-up at 44 percent to 37 percent among registered Maryland voters, with 19 percent undecided. When Maryland voters are asked to pick between Hogan and Rep. David Trone (D-Md.), the poll shows a tighter race, with both men tied at 42 percent, and the remaining 16 percent undecided. It’s a remarkable...

"A district the Republicans should have won." That's how, on today's Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough described yesterday's special election in New York's 3rd district, won by the Democrat, Tom Suozzi, who represented the district from 2017 to 2023, and so was the virtual incumbent in the race. He won the district in 2018 by 59-41 percent, and in 2020 by 56-43. The election was held to fill the seat vacated by serial fabulist Republican George Santos, only the third person since the Civil War to be expelled from the House. There was surely significant voter sentiment wanting to punish Santos...

Republican presidential candidate former Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC) said Tuesday on “The Hugh Hewitt Show” that former President Donald Trump was “unhinged.” When asked about Trump questioning where her deployed husband was, Haley said, “This is about every military family who sacrifices and knows what it’s like to have their loved one deployed. And this is about a pattern of Donald Trump. I mean, he has said this before where he calls military members suckers or losers. We know that when he was at Arlington Cemetery, he said, ‘What was in it for them?’ He has never even been close...

Republican presidential candidate former Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC) said Monday on CNN’s “The Lead” that she will beat former President Donald Trump for the party nomination. Anchor Jake Tapper said, “So obviously you’re running in South Carolina and you’ve told me that you plan to be around well obviously you want to be the nominee and then the president, but, but you’re going to be around at least until super Tuesday. If the unthinkable happens in your view and you do not win will it be difficult to Support Trump as the Republican Party’s nominee, given what you think about...
