(Newser) – You'll soon be able to drop Amazon returns at Kohl's locations across the country—no packing required. More than 1,150 Kohl's stores will accept Amazon returns by July as part of an extended partnership launched in spring 2017. About 100 stores offer the service currently. Customers need only bring packaged or unpackaged Amazon items to a store, per Fortune. Kohl's, which sells Amazon products in more than 200 stores, will then pack and send the items to an Amazon return center at no additional cost. CNBC notes the goal is to drive traffic to stores, referencing 9% growth in...

Kohl's is filling jobs at 300 of its 1,100 US stores for the back-to-school and holiday seasons. Additional jobs at stores and fulfillment centers will come open later in the year. It's the earliest Kohl's has ever started hiring seasonal workers, said Ryan Festerling, the store's executive vice president of human resources. Unemployment is 3.8%, the lowest since 2000. Sucharita Kodali, a retail analyst at Forrester, told CNNMoney that Kohl's is smart to start looking so early. It allows Kohl's to "find and hopefully retain some of those best workers, and it gives the workers a bit more security in...

Walmart (WMT) , the country's largest private employer, plans to eliminate roughly 1,000 corporate jobs as it looks to boost its e-commerce business and trim costs. The jobs, mainly in the human resources department, will be cut before Jan. 31, as a result of increased e-commerce spending and rising employee wages, an anonymous executive told the Wall Street Journal. When contacted by TheStreet, Walmart declined in an email to comment on the job cuts but said the company has "not made any announcements" on its current corporate structure, adding "... we are always looking for ways to operate more efficiently...

Macy’s says it is eliminating more than 10,000 jobs and plans to move forward with 68 store closures after a disappointing holiday shopping season. The department store chain also lowered its full-year earnings forecast. The retailer said Wednesday that sales at its established stores fell 2.1 percent in November and December compared to the same period last year. Macy’s Inc. pointed to changing consumer behavior and said its performance reflects the challenges that are facing much of the retail industry. As if to underscore that point, Kohl’s Corp. also reported disappointing holiday shopping numbers Wednesday. …

Directors of Kohl's Corp., which has been struggling to regain at least some of the growth that once made the company a retailing star, are weighing the possibility of going private, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday. Citing a person familiar with the situation, the paper said directors are debating whether to hire an investment bank to explore alternatives that could include sale to a private equity firm. The discussions are preliminary and may not lead to such action, the paper reported. But New York-based retail consultant Howard Davidowitz said the considerable cash flow Kohl's generates makes it attractive to...

I’d never heard the name Max Kohl until a few hours ago. But I like the guy. Kohl’s, the department store he founded, is looking to hire some 52,000 or so people in the coming months — good news for job-seekers across the country. The downside is that these are seasonal jobs for the holidays, but the more interesting fact is that the number of seasonal employees the store is seeking is up 10 percent over last year, a very good indicator of the firm’s expectations for the all-important holiday retailing season, and a good indicator in general. But expanding...

  • Beware Kohl's matching "doll and girl" clothing

Kohls sells clothing to fit an 18" doll, along with a matching outfit for the girl to wear. Nightgowns seem to be the most popular of these. Only, it seems someone forgot to set the dye! Perspiration from little hands causes the dye to bleed, where it then stains everything those little hands touch. (I work for a doll company, and we've been getting a lot of calls from people whose brand-new dolls are now ruined. Not to mention their sofa, carpet, wallpaper, etc, etc) Further details as they become available.

State Rep. Paul Kohls became an early casualty of the crowded race for Minnesota governor, dropping out Thursday because of a lack of support from GOP constituencies. "I've come to the conclusion that I don't have sufficient support from the delegates to keep going," Kohls told reporters. Kohls, who has been in the state House since 2002, was not among the top finishers in the state Republican party's straw poll earlier this month. The poll was won by House Minority Leader Marty Seifert, one of the first and most prominent Republicans to join the race after incumbent Tim Pawlenty, a...

Washington DC, Dec. 09, 2005 (CNA) - Intervening in the heated debate about the mention of Christmas on the public square, Concerned Women for America (CWA) presented a first Christmas list showing which businesses are honouring the Reason for the Season (the birth of Jesus), which ones are not, and which have mixed records. It first lists the corporation ‘Nice’ or friendly to the Original Christmas tradition.  This year Macy's joins the NICE list because it has returned the explicit mention of Christmas and Merry Christmas to its stores and its ads. L.L. Bean, on the other hand, just barely...

Custard Customer Won't Return Finger Friday, May 06, 2005 RALEIGH, N.C. — To a dessert shop customer, the severed fingertip found in a pint of frozen custard could be worth big dollars in a potential lawsuit. To the shop worker who lost it, the value is far more than monetary. But Clarence Stowers (search) still has the digit, refusing to return the evidence so it could be reattached. And now it's too late for doctors to do anything for 23-year-old Brandon Fizer (search). "I'm not saying who has it, but somebody has it," Stowers said this week in a telephone...

MILWAUKEE (AP) U.S. Sen. Herb Kohl has hired a Democratic organizer to begin coordinating his run for re-election in 2006. The Wisconsin Democrat said Tuesday that he hired Michael Teter to start putting the campaign together. Kohl, who turned 70 Monday, announced over the weekend that he is seeking a fourth six-year term in the Senate. The millionaire owner of the Milwaukee Bucks was first elected in 1988 and won re-election in 1994 and 2000. Teter was Wisconsin field director for the Democratic Party's campaign last year.
