The number one story in the news in Great Britain (and a major story around the world) is the apparent abandonment of the Royal Family by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, better known as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The story obviously has a strong personal element, but it also strikes me as emblematic of our time. The British monarchy is not just ancient, but profoundly old-fashioned. It is founded on a concept of duty, exemplified by Queen Elizabeth II, that is utterly at odds with the 21st century. Being a Royal is a great job, most would say,...

Ukraine’s leading political party has said that the international financier George Soros has been preparing a “Lybian scenario” for the country. The head of the Party of Regions parliamentary faction Aleksandr Yefremov said in a televised comment on Wednesday that he had information that George Soros had allocated funds for the overthrow of the Ukrainian political authorities. “I even have information that Soros has allocated certain funds in order to prepare a certain group of young boys here in Ukraine who could launch any existing projects based on the North Africa examples,” Yefremov said. He also added that he hoped...

O'Donnell has trouble airing 30-minute TV ad in Delaware By Philip Rucker Washington Post Staff Writer Monday, November 1, 2010; 11:12 AM Christine O'Donnell is taking a page from the playbook of Barack Obama. The Republican Senate candidate has produced a 30-minute television advertisement in the form of a documentary chronicling her connection with the people of Delaware. But unlike Obama's ad at the end of the 2008 race, the tea party insurgent's campaign has run into obstacles getting it in front of voters before Election Day. The campaign did not purchase advance time on networks in the Philadelphia or...

How phony is Barack Obama? PBS Washington Week host Gwen Ifill reviewed New Yorker editor David Remnick's new Obama book The Bridge in the Washington Post Outlook section Sunday, and she kept finding Obama is a Slick Barry, a "shape shifter." Obama even admitted to rhetoric what should be obvious -- how he changes "dialects" depending on the audience he's talking to: Obama cops to this. "The fact that I conjugate my verbs and speak in a typical Midwestern newscaster's voice -- there's no doubt that this helps ease communication between myself and white audiences," he tells Remnick. "And there's...

During one of Barack Obama’s speech to a joint session of Congress last year, he was met at one point with an emphatic outburst of “You lie!” by Congressman Joe Wilson. At the time Wilson’s outburst was deemed to be disrespectful, demeaning, unprofessional and/or even just stupid. In retrospect though, Wilson should be commended for pointing out what is the absolute truth about Obama, which is that he is indeed a liar. When Bill Clinton was serving as president, it became very evident that he was a pathological liar. However, Clinton’s lies were more of a personal nature which for...

PRESIDENT BUSH: I thank the members of the Senate and members of my administration who worked so hard on the border security and immigration reform bill. I'm sorry the Senate was unable to reach agreement on the bill this morning. Legal immigration is one of the top concerns of the American people, and Congress's failure to act on it is a disappointment. The American people understand the status quo is unacceptable when it comes to our immigration laws. A lot of us worked hard to see if we couldn't find common ground. It -- it didn't work. ...

Zogby Now a PR Firm, cont’d. Just yesterday I participated in the Nov. 10 Zogby On-line Poll (invitation only). Aside from being far more lengthy than usual, I was struck by the “advocacy” nature of the questions. Rather than being content to survey attitudes, it was very clear to me that Zogby was trying to influence and to change those attitudes, at least regarding what must be a new customer for them: The “Brady Bunch”! That was my conclusion, at least. Here are the questions regarding firearms: you be the judge, but it looks to me as if Zogby have...

Well, if you didn’t think it was going to happen then either “Hi, I’m amazingly naïve” is your middle name or you are doing the “ostrich” and sticking your head in the sand to avoid the truth but either way you are kidding yourself. As the United States stands poised to liberate the Iraqi people from the tyrannical regime of Saddam Hussein, in an effort to rid the world of one of its most successful terrorist enterprises, it would seem that his war has already begun. As is the “master manipulator’s” grandiose nature, and having already acquired the assistance of...
