Royal Marines commandos 'dominated' US troops and forced them into a humiliating surrender just days into a mass training exercise in the Mojave desert, it has been revealed today. British forces took part in a five-day mock battle at the US Marine Corps' Twentynine Palms base in southern California, one of the largest military training areas in the world, and achieved a decisive victory against their American counterparts. The Royal Marines, along with allied forces from Canada, the Netherlands and the UAE, destroyed or rendered inoperable nearly every US asset and finished the exercise holding more than 65 per cent...
  • My two sons left for Marine Corp basic training today

    10/10/2017 9:07:33 PM PDT · by Romans Nine · 92 replies
Today years of home schooling and teaching honor, duty and love for country came to fruition. My two oldest sons Marshall (19) and Mitchell (18) left for MCRD San Diego. These are two fine young Christian men who have never gave their mother or I any real trouble or grief. They have never so much as back talked us. It was a proud moment for us as we watched them take the oath to protect the Constitution of the United States. Neither of them were looking for a career they just wanted to do what they felt was a duty...
  • Are These The Last Days Of The U.S. Marine Corps?

Are the current personnel cuts the beginning of the end for the U.S. Marines? Could these actually be the last days of the U.S. Marine Corps? A decade ago, such a notion would have been absolutely unthinkable, but times have changed. The Marine Corps was already in the process of drawing down from a peak of 202,100 Marines to 182,100, and now Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is warning that the sequester cuts may force the Army to be cut down to a size of 380,000 and the Marine Corps to be cut down to a size of 150,000. Unfortunately for...

I was wondering if anyone had information on the Marines who were stationed in Beirut 30 years ago today when it was attacked, perhaps a list of survivors or those who received a metal for valor on that day.

A former employee of mine who left the business about 10 years ago has it on his Facebook page that he was not only there, but received a metal from then President Reagan for heroism. I hired him and worked side by side for 2 years with him, heard all his stories and he never ONCE mentioned this to me. I know he got a dishonorable discharge for desertion when he refused to deploy to the Philippines, but the thing that really gets my goat was we graduated HS both in the class of 83. He told me he was an NBC specialist who mostly ran tear gas testing drills later, but he is so full of sh*t that I want to really blast him for claiming this if it wasn't true, but I won't unless I have some kind of proof.

Hemet: Marine convicted of smuggling rifle from Saddam palace - An AK-47 seized from Saddam Hussein’s Royal Guard, belonging to Twentynine Palms Marine Joel Cleve Miller. Federal prosecutors said former Staff Sgt. Joel Cleve Miller, 40, was found guilty of possession of an illegal chrome AK-47 that he smuggled back from Iraq during a 14-month tour in 2005. When he returned to his home in Hemet, he bragged to several friends that he smuggled the gun back after it once belonged to Saddam Hussein’s Royal Guard. The U.S. Marine Corps discharged Miller in December 2011 after 20 years in the...

Ok, so I just related this little story in this thread but have decided that it may merit its own post. This is a story related to me several years ago by my at the time roommate. He was at some sort of church social function that had some active duty personnel in attendance. He saw a little boy, about 5 or 6, who had drawn a crude American flag on both sides of a piece of paper in crayon. After neglecting his little paper flag for a few minutes, he began folding it in what appeared to be the...

I posted the following on Free Republic on 10/24/07: My husband and I have 3 daughters and two sons. They have all been raised the same with conservative values. We have taught them about God and tried to be good examples. They were taught about work and to take responsibility for their own actions. The daughters turned out fine. However, the sons went off the deep end. The old boy has all kinds of facial piercings (I can look beyond that)and keeps on getting in trouble with the law for drug related offences. Lucky for him the felonies have been...

June 11, 2006 Dear Dad- Dear Dad, If I ever hear airmen griping and complaining, I jump into them pretty quickly, now. Most people over here have nothing to gripe about compared to Marines. Marines are different. They have a different outlook on life. One Marine Private was here for several days because he was a lower priority evacuation patient. He insisted on coming to attention and displaying proper military courtesy every morning when I came through on rounds. He was in a great deal of pain, and it was a stressful to watch him work his way off the...

RANCHO BERNARDO ---- Two people died and an estimated 14 to 20 more Marine personnel were hurt when two military vehicles went over the side of southbound Interstate 15 bringing traffic to a halt Wednesday, authorities said. The collision happened at 7:19 p.m. on I-15 just south of West Bernardo Drive, California Highway Patrol Officer Larry Landeros said. A Camp Pendleton spokesman said the vehicles were from the 1st Marine Division stationed at Twenty-nine Palms. Further information was not available, he said. One large transport-type military vehicle towing another carrying military personnel struck the center divide and then went about...

Does America Still Deserve The Marines? (by Gunny Bob Newman, retired 20-year veteran of the Marine Corps) Not that I know what one is, but I do know what one looks like. A parabolic wave is a thing that looks like a wave when viewed from the side. Parabolic waves appear on screens that are part of certain machines and computers and other technical devices. I suspect they are useless, really, but scientists and technicians like them because they look cool and by turning just about any dial, one can change the height and frequency of the wave. The war...

For more than a year, former Marine Staff Sgt. Jimmy Massey has been telling anybody who will listen about the atrocities that he and other Marines committed in Iraq. In scores of newspaper, magazine and broadcast stories, at a Canadian immigration hearing and in numerous speeches across the country, Massey has told how he and other Marines recklessly, sometimes intentionally, killed dozens of innocent Iraqi civilians. Among his claims: Marines fired on and killed peaceful Iraqi protesters. Americans shot a 4-year-old Iraqi girl in the head. A tractor-trailer was filled with the bodies of civilian men, women and children killed...

General Peter Pace U.S. Marine Corps, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (nomination pending for chairman)—Washington, D.C. When I was a second lieutenant in Vietnam, my platoon was patrolling around Hue City, and we came to a fork in the road. I called back to my company commander, "Should I go left or right?" He said, "Go left." We went a little farther, and there was another fork. I called back again: Left or right? He said, "Go right." Then I called back a third time, and he chewed me out on the radio: "You're the lieutenant. You're...
