MILTON, WV (WOWK) - The Milton Police Department had a little fun with one of their arrests this week. A masked bandit was taken into custody by Ptl. Scarberry and Sgt. Collins. The bandits were intoxicated on crabapples and yes were both raccoons.

Police in West Virginia have apprehended masked bandits who were drunkenly acting up in town -- but they weren't humans. Neighbors had reported two raccoons that they thought were rabid to police, but it turned out they were just drunk on fermented crabapples, the Milton Police Department wrote on its Facebook page.

Giuseppe the red tabby cat had led down on a patio chair, when a big group of Golden Retriever puppies licked him all over. A woman in Shamong Township, Burlington County, was found living with 44 dead dogs and 130 living dogs in "deplorable" conditions, State Police said. Donna Roberts, 65, was charged with animal cruelty Tuesday after State Police from the Red Lion Station inspected her home on Oakshade Road. With the Burlington County Health Department, authorities discovered "evidence of animal cruelty inflicted upon various breeds of dogs on the property," State Police said in a statement. Prince William has revealed that his father, Prince Charles, is absolutely obsessed with a certain type of squirrel. “He is completely infatuated by the red squirrels that live around the [Birkhall] estate in Scotland,” Prince William told Country Life in a special edition of the British weekly guest-edited by Prince Charles himself. Firefighters from California's Foster City Fire Department on Monday came to the rescue of a cat who was burned in the Camp Fire, which has left at least 48 people dead and over 100 missing. The cat — named "Foster" — was meowing while hiding in the bushes of a property that firefighters were checking, the department wrote on Facebook. A horse was found in the backyard pool of a Paradise, Calif. resident, after the animal apparently tried to find a safe space as the Camp Fire moved through town. A dog in St. Louis recently received a lifesaving gift from one of her puppies. A few years ago, Star and her litter of 13 puppies were found in a box in southern Missouri. The mom was dehydrated and malnourished, local news station Fox 2 reported. A lesbian couple have been charged with stealing a Pomeranian service dog from a 67-year-old Vietnam veteran, who died from a suspected heart attack just hours before he was to be reunited with his beloved pet. Florida voters overwhelmingly approved a measure on the ballot on Tuesday to ban greyhound racing throughout the state by the end of 2020 - though some warn dogs may be left homeless as a result. The largest Burmese python ever seen in South Florida wasn't able to slither her way out of being captured earlier this week. A snake hunter captured the female snake while on South Florida Water Management District property in Miami-Dade County Monday night, the agency announced in a press release Wednesday. Homestead resident Kyle Penniston was credited for reeling in the elongated reptile, which was measured at 17 feet, 5 inches and weighed in at 120 pounds, according to the SFWMD.

YORK, S.C. - A South Carolina courthouse has been evacuated after bedbugs were found there for the second time in just over two weeks. York County Clerk of Court David Hamilton said specially trained dogs found evidence of bedbugs in both courtrooms of the criminal court building Thursday as well as in offices on both floors. Hamilton told The Herald of Rock Hill officials decided to close the entire building for safety as a stronger chemical treatment is applied.
