As Hurricane Ian storms along the Gulf coast, Twitter users scorched Politico for a Tuesday tweet falsely claiming Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., has never faced the tough challenge of a hurricane hitting his state. DeSantis took office in Jan. 2019 and Hurricane Sally struck the Florida panhandle in Sept. 2020, hitting the city of Pensacola particularly hard. Politico tweeted a link to an article titled "DeSantis faces the true test of any Florida governor," with the accompanying text, "Gov. Ron DeSantis spent his first term becoming one of the most influential Republicans in the country. But he still hasn’t faced...

Tropical Storm Sally continued to strengthen as it moves toward the Gulf Coast, with the National Hurricane Center warning on Sunday that it could make landfall as a hurricane. Hurricane conditions are expected by late Monday from Grand Isle, Louisiana, to Ocean Springs, Mississippi, including the greater New Orleans area. Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards said Sally represents a "very significant threat." "We have really good reason to be concerned about this storm," Edwards said in a Sunday press briefing. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) said Sunday that dangerous and "life-threatening" storm surge is expected from Louisiana to the Mississippi/Alabama...

Sally Yates, an Obama holdover who served as acting attorney general in the early days of the Trump administration, denounced the president and heralded her refusal to defend his travel ban during Tuesday night remarks to the Democratic National Convention. Yates is widely considered a frontrunner for attorney general should Democratic nominee Joe Biden prevail in the November election. She is also immediately adjacent to two of the Trump era's greatest controversies: the president's travel ban and the surveillance of Trump associates during the 2016 campaign. "I was fired for refusing to defend President Trump's shameful and unlawful travel ban,"...

Thursday, ESPN “First Take” co-host Max Kellerman weighed in on the New England Patriots’ visit to the White House in celebration of their Super Bowl victory over the Atlanta Falcons. In a long-winded rant, Kellerman said Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski walking into press secretary Sean Spicer’s press briefing Wednesday normalizes Spicer’s behavior, adding that this proves that the Patriots should have completely boycotted visiting the White House.

Photo by Oleg Volk Sally is a nice, conservative lady who asked a question about the AR-15 a few weeks ago. Sally is not a "gun person", she just wanted a straight answer. I am pleased to report that Sally sent the following message yesterday: "Just got my conceal carry license. I knew it wouldn't take long after I sent it in. To be a Pharmacy Tech in Missouri one gets finger printed by the highway patrol and prints go to the FBI. Easy to find. And would be the stupidest crime of the year if I ever committed one....

Names changed to protect privacy Thanks for all the info. I guess I had thought of this kind of rifle as belonging to gangs and not for sale to the general public. When George was in Viet Nam he shot a M16, which gave me the image that this kind of gun maybe should not be for the public. But the way that you have discribed a use for this, gives it a different flavor. Probably would stop anyone in their tracks (just the sight of it). The knowledge that you have more shots seems almost impressive, if it would...

Quickly becoming one of my favorite Christmas specials. A fast moving 17 minutes literally based upon Charles Schultz's comic strips. My favorite part is Sally's "today, I'm going to fall down a Christmas tree" adventures.

Presidential hopeful Barack Obama has gained a foothold in another voter demographic: astronauts. Sally Ride, the first American woman in space, endorsed the Democratic candidate on Wednesday in an op-ed published in the Orlando Sentinel. Comparing Obama’s inspirational capabilities to those of JFK, she writes, “He has inspired young people to engage with their communities and has excited them about the possibilities of what they can accomplish. That is in the best spirit of discovery.” Space travel is not just the subject of childhood fantasies though. It’s primed to be a major policy issue for the next administration. NASA, currently...
