Little Gina Sambriski was drowned in a bathtub by her mother Wednesday, just as her father, Brian Ramirez, was waging a legal battle to get visitation rights for the 2-year-old girl.

July 26, 2003 -- A Long Island father bitterly blamed bureaucrats and courts yesterday for the drowning death of his 2-year-old daughter Gina at the hand of her mentally ill mother.

There are so many issues here:
No respect for human life,another dead child at the hands of her mother, child Abuse, Fathers' rights , prejudice against fathers in child custody cases, sex before marriage, the conceiving of children only after marriage, using contraception so situations like this won't happen, marijuana use and depression/other psychological illnesses (some say the drug should be legal!), the bureaucracy, another child killed by a despondent mother (Andrea Yates killed her 5 children), another child killed without using a firearm (are we now going to register bathtubs and water and license those who sell bathtubs and water?), etc.

Oh, that's right, this is AMERICA!! Where a TURTLE egg and nest receives more protection under US and Florida law than a human being, sorry, I forgot.

I hate our court system right now for its innate bias against Fathers.

Excellent analysis. So many issues here. I was married to a mentally ill man for years. The state and society had NO idea how to handle him - and I did - and all they ever did was get in our way and cause us grief.

They acted when they didn't need to (to "protect" me - despite my protests) and didn't act when I asked them to (to "protect" him) and in general were just a big screwed-up mess.

The actions of an a$$hole father - he with money, the mother without - using his position of power to accuse her of false crimes, using the child as a battering ram against the mother - he drove her into depression and HIS actions caused her breakdown, and this child's death.

The mother committed the act. The father was the proximate cause.

I remain steadfast in my opinion - this child would be alive today if her a$$hole father were not an a$$hole.

About the only way to ensure that a complaint about child abuse or endangerment will be ignored by social services is to have the father make it.

Sambriski was off her medication and dangerous.

This is from the news article. If it is documented that she was suppose to be on meds, then he had a legitimate complaint.
