Are the Arabs entitled to an ethnically-cleansed West Bank?
4/15/2002 | self

The title really says it all: Why should the Arabs be entitled to an ethnically-cleased West Bank?

There are some 1.5MM Arabs living in Israel. No one seriously talks about expunging them. So why then are the sensibilities of the Arabs so delicate that they cannot tolerate a few modest Jewish enclaves in their territory?

Is the answer to this the same as the answer to why the Arabs expelled over 800,000 Jews from their territories in the last century?

Would love to hear your thoughts. This seems like a glaring double standard to me.

"Why should the Arabs be entitled to an ethnically-cleased West Bank?"

They want more than an ethnically-cleansed West Bank, remember. The Arabs want an ethnically cleansed Palestine, without an Israel.

People who long for ethnic cleansing are deservant of exactly that...

Of course it's a double standard. Israel, as imperfect as it is, is a relatively free country. The Arab world is one giant totalitarian cesspool that can't stand non-Arabs in its midst.

The success of Israel breeds envy, hatred, and homicidal rage in the Arab world because it points out the miserable failure of modern Arab culture. Rather than face and take on its own problems, it's easier for the Palestinians to practice its disgusting brand of murderous victimology.

It just seems so strange to me that the Arabs feel comfortable openly admitting that they want to expel the so-called "settlers" from the inviolable Arab soil of the West Bank. What gives them the right?

How is this any different from the Serbs alleged ethnic cleansing activity in Kosovo?

Why should the Israelis, by the same right, not be allowed to deport ALL Arabs from Israel proper?

Because the Iraeli army is committed to protect them? I'm not a Palistinian supporter, you can check my history. But the idea that there can be an independent Palistinian nation with enclaves that the Israeli's are committed to defend is absurd. Boundries have to mean something.

Would we tolerate Mexican enclaves that the Mexican govt. regularly sent troops to defend?

Of course if we could expect a civalized nation of Palistine, then we would expect the Pali govt. to protect them. But we all know the liklihood of that.

MORAL CLARITY
An honorable, moral solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict.

Isn't the only honorable way to "solve" the Arab-Israeli conflict through the use "ethnic cleansing?" (And by that term I mean the polite, but forceful removal of all 3 million Pali from Eretz Yisrael -- which is not "genocide", as some on the Left misuse the term.) Let me explain.

The current wave of "suicide" bombers (a misnomer, since their primary goal is not suicide but the mass murder of civilians) is unprecedented and unrelenting. But it should not be unexpected. It is the direct (and obviously planned) result of brainwashing that started with Pali children as young as kindergarteners. Look at the faces of the babies in the pictures above. What vomitous horror - visiting this upon their heads. What unspeakable evil.

The Palestinian descent into barbarism does not have some dimly-lit origin. The homicidal-bombers are not some unforseen phenomenom that sprung forth from the "hopelessness" of the populace (as the PA "leaders" would have us believe). They are part and parcel of the war machine created by the PA to wreak systematic havoc on Israel. Someone was paid to train -- or more accurately, brainwash -- the Pali youth. Someone was paid to buy the explosives and make the bombs. Someone was paid to lay out and plan a path to a weak spot in Israeli defenses. Someone was paid to store the bombs and then give these murdering-bombers their weapons. Someone was paid to videotape their farewell messages. Someone was paid to transport these murdering-bombers across security lines. Someone paid the family to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars specifically for their "martyrdom." And, as we are now learning, those paymasters include Yassir Arafat, Saddam Hussein and the Saudi elite.

The PA has not been preparing its people for peace, but radicalizing them for the sole purpose of destroying Israel. The Palestinians have rejected the Oslo premise that the conflict is about borders, in which compromise may be a solution. The PA, by appointing militant clerics who preach hate and "martyrdom", have turned this into a religious war, one in which compromise is heretical. Indeed, as Henry Kissinger has noted: The result of Arafat's strategy of hatred is now known: Pali society cannot co-exist in peace with Israel. Recent polls tell the story clearly. Over 87% of the Palis support terror operations that murder Israeli civilians. Given these numbers, there is NO POSSIBILITY of a negotiated settlement that would be honored by the Palis within their lifetime. The Palis have been filled with visceral hate and prepared for unrelenting war by Arafat. He has brainwashed an entire generation of youngsters to become suicide bombers. He has unleashed almost 10 years of official "judeo-nazi" indoctrination on the Pali people. Arafat has committed crimes not only against the entire populace of Israel, but against Palestinians and their children as well. Truly, these are Crimes against Humanity.

Current conditions make ethnic cleansing not only justified, but morally required. As antithetical as it sounds to liberal ears, ethnic cleansing is literally the only humane solution. To pursue a negotiated settlement is akin to locking a tiger and a human with a gun in the same cage. Assign the roles to whomever you wish, but the result is the same. Someone is eventually going to be killed.

The world community's role in this to date has been to create this inhumane spectacle, this caged, semitic death match. The world community's response going forward ought to be the equivalent of an "Allied invasion of Nazi Germany" because nothing less will suffice to rid the world of this monstrosity. Eject all Arab peoples from Gaza and the West Bank (because once you eliminate the terrorists, their supporters and their families, virtually nobody is left). Then round up the PA "leaders" (including "clerics" and "teachers"), and put them on trial for Crimes against Humanity. As they are found guilty, hang them in public.

And to the extent that this PA policy was conducted, funded, supported, promoted, or otherwise enabled by their Arab bretheren (notably Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Iraq, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia) then it is incumbent upon these countries to pay for their sins by taking in the Palis. Arabs created this mess. Let Arabs bear the toll for the human misery they created.

Even Tom Friedman of the New York Times has come around, finally grasping the global ramifications of Arafat's evil: What is needed is the elimination of this cancer on humanity. End it quickly before more innocent lives are lost. End it now or it will escalate to Weapons of Mass Destruction. End it clearly and with finality so that there is absolutely NO ambiguity that civilization finds this abhorent. Moral clarity demands nothing less.

If nothing else, as a sop to liberal sensibilities, do it for the children

Right, but if there is ultimately an exchange of "land for peace" then the Israeli army's obligation to defend the settlers would presumaby pass on to the Palestinian civil authorities.

Or are Arab civil authorities constitutionally incapable of protecting Jewish minorities?

You may be right, because the Palestinians have repeatedly proven themselves incapable of forming a civil society.

But wouldn't this be, in some ways, the ultimate test of Palestinian good intentions? If they are willing and able to take responsibility for protecting a Jewish minority, then maybe they could finally join the family of responsible nations...

The struggle against militant Islam re-echoes, not so much the themes of the Cold War, but the causes of the American Civil War. Are the Islamists, in the name of peace, not entitled to their own "peculiar institution" of sharia law, with its stonings and mutilations, its whips and its chains, its ethnically cleansed communities? Is there not, in the Ayatollah's vision of a Muslim world, something of the echo of the "purple dream" of a federation of slave states stretching south from the Mason-Dixon line to the Tierra del Fuego?

The liberals, like Henry Clay, cling to the hope that a final breach can be avoided. The Compromise of 1850 and Fugitive Slave Act reprise on the world stage under the modern title of a ceasefire. But will it hold?

Lincoln, in analogous circumstances, thought not:

"'A house divided against itself cannot stand.' I believe this government cannot endure permanently half slave and half free. ... It will become all one thing, or all the other. Either the opponents ... will arrest the further spread of it, and place it where the public mind shall rest in the belief that it is in the course of ultimate extinction, or its advocates will push it forward till it shall become alike lawful in all the States, old as well as new ..."
For my part, I do not think there is room enough on the planet for militant Islam and civilization together. It is out to kill me, and I do not intend to die.

Wonderful post. Thank you. I hadn't thought of the parallels between the peculiar institution of sharia law and slavery, though in retrospect they seem so obvious!

Potential War Crimes Alert to all Human Rights organizations.

Mr. Pinkass clearly stated on the just completed Larry King special edition, featuring George Mitchel, Mr. Rahman, and Mr. Pinkass, that the ONLY reason that the Israelis will not begin the Tenet/Mitchel Plan or the UN security council plan is because Sharon does not wish to negotiate with Arafat. Please alert all human rights organizations that from this moment forward it must be made obvious that every person who dies, dies because of Sharon's refusal to recommence negotiations. The Palestinian position is "were ready to proceed right now with Tenet/Mitchel and the UN peace initiatives".

"Why should the Israelis, by the same right, not be allowed to deport ALL Arabs from Israel proper?" PC only applies to certain groups---the Palestinians, like our Democrats, are exempt.

I see. So in other words: "we're entitled to squat on Israeli land but not a single Jew may remain inside the soverign state of Palestine."
