Because in the wake of Watergate we passed a whole bunch of "reforms" aimed at prohibiting the CIA from "domestic spying."

Yep, and the Church hearings/"reforms".

Yep....doin' the crawfish on this is the best thing for the RAT controlled Senate Intell. Committee. That and the Clinton connection should prove to be very interesting reading for all those undecided voters out there. I should imagine Tommy the Hole would like to slap Sinthyia McKinney up side the head right about now.

Wasn't Patrick Leahy once on the Snnate Intelligence Committee and then had to resign in disgrace because he leaked some important classified information? Please refresh me on this.

What were the details of the leak? And what was Leahy's ranking on the Senate Intelligence Committee?

I don't recall the exact details of the leak, but I do remember the scandal that surrounded it. Maybe a fellow FReeper could cime in with that. I think he was the ranking RAT on the Intel Comm at the time.

PJ, the news media have known the full truth of this since the story hit yesterday - they just didn't want to report all of it.

Thursdays, ya see, are big ratings days. Ratings surveys are conducted on a Friday-thru-Thursday week, and Thursday is when you want your big guns firing. That's why there's always a huge battle for Thursday Evening Primetime.

So, the news media puts out the accusations on a Thursday, and by Friday they allow the truth to drizzle out - just when no one's paying attention. The media KNEW that Congress got the same briefing the Prez did, or at least SOME knew. But the media wanted its role in another "DNC 24-Hour News Cycle Miracle," and played along.

I noticed how quickly this story withered on the vine on CNN after it was pointed out on-air that the intel committees all had the same info as the Prez - AND the CNN polls showed 70% of the Amurrican Pipple thought this was pure politics. Paula Zahn then said, "I'm sure we'll be seeing some 'recalibration' of the way the Democrats are handling this story. We have before when our polls come out..."

This one's over, folks, for now...

Michael

I thought that the CIA and NSA was prohibited from sharing any intelligence
they have gathered with the FBI or any other domestic LEO. I think that is a little
known fact that the DEMOCRAT congress pushed through legislation like that
because they were afraid that somebody's invisible civil rights would be violated somehow?
If that is the case, wouldn't it stand to reason that if they were following
the stupid law there would not be enough communication because of the
DEMOCRATS mainly and the entire political idiots responsible for handcuffing our intelligence community?

You're right. Graham scares me because I'm one of his constituents and this is as close to moderate as he has ever gotten.

Could it be that he is beginning to realize that his state, Florida, is going more and more conservative.

Our local supervisor of elections has said outright that the most business that passes through their office is people registering Republican (and those switching to Republican). Our state legislatue has a Republican majority.

I think Graham's "core beliefs" become more and more conservative as the day of his running for re-election (or another shot as governor) approaches.

Every time Tom Ridge puts out one of his color-coded warnings based on UNSPECIFIC THREATS, the media , and the population, LAUGHS at it!! "What's the use of warning us when you don't have anything specific? We don't even know what to watch out for! Tell us when you've got something concrete!"

So far none of the media Bush defenders have brought that up. Somebody SHOULD. At least from now on, Ridge might get a little more respect.

That's exactly right -- per the Church "reforms".

Yeah, that's what my husband and I were talking about last night. If I were a reporter,
I would check into this but I doubt very seriously whether very many civilians know this.
I think the military and ex-military types are the ones most aware of these types of laws.
And the laws for treason and for leaking classified material.

Graham's family once owned the entire northwest corner of Dade County. Bobby made a fortune developing Miami Lakes, Country Club of Miami and the part of Hialeah that was on his ranch land.

That was probably way back when Hialeah was almost 100% Rednecks. Nowadays it is probably 0% Rednecks.

Being that I lived in Boca Raton from 1990-94 and Miami from 1999 to the present, I find it hard to believe that there were ANY rednecks down here. I heard that there were a few in the cowtowns of Hialeah and Davie at one time, but that was a long time ago. I guess the New Yorkers and Cubans drove them all up to Lake City or Ocala.

Believe it or not, at one time saying that you were from Hialeah was the same as saying that you were a Redneck. Hey, once upon a time, Broward County was considered to be "Goldwater Country."
