By Brian Maloney

Could this be Al Franken and Janeane Garofalo's lucky day?

As crucial midterm congressional elections approach, can America's "progressive" leaders really afford to let an ailing liberal talk radio network die?

Apparently, the answer to the first question is yes, to the second, no, the Radio Equalizer has learned.

Through an emergency bailout plan, a coalition of wealthy liberal political activists are poised to at least temporarily save Air America Radio. On the way: as much as $8 million in sorely-needed cash to fund ongoing operations.

Liberalism, yet again, fails in the marketplace of ideas. The only way the left survives in this country is if it's subsidized.

They should spend more. Much more. If George Soros really believed in the cause, he would dump all his money into Air America.

Big deal. Who is listening to them anyway? Besides, The Washington Times was operating in the red for years, because the Moonie guy wanted a certain viewpoint heard.

Someone finds it worth supporting.... whether it's a few millionaires or a million normal persons. That's the market, too. But I don't consider AAR worth worrying over at any rate.

George Soros's investment acumen takes a major hit here.

Of course in an election year Soros and all other wealthy libs cannot afford to let the DemonRAT network die!! I have been posting that for months, whenever someone states that AAR is about to go under. Making money has nothing to do with this network, it is an important part of the propaganda machine being run by Howard Dean and his DNC.

The problem with this is that it will blur the line between legitimate, profit-centered talk radio and a 24/7 campaign commercial masquerading as a talk radio station.

Already the forces of suppression are casting an eye at Rush Limbaugh et al, to see if their programs can be somehow construed as campaign contributions to Republican candidates. As such, they would be limited under McCain/Fiengold, and would be restricted from making statements regarding an election from 60 days before Election Day. The fact that people are even contemplating such a thing demonstrates how fundamentally flawed McCain/Fiengold is.

But one could make a much stronger case the AirAmerica is, in fact, one big political contribution to the Democrats. Clearly the primary motivation is to influence elections, since the notion of profit has never even been remotely possible. So, what is George Soros buying with his $8 Million?

And if AirAmerica is found to be an illegal campaign contribution, the howler monkeys on the Left will be out in force the very next day asking for the same standard to be applied to conservative Talk Radio. That is the point where we will have officially graduated to "Banana Republic" status.

Let's face it, the Donks will never be able to compete in the playing field of Talk Radio, so their only option is to blow up the entire arena.

Note the Pop Art Mao Tse Tung poster behind Progress Chairman Peter Lewis in this photograph.

I can think of nothing more sick and twisted than a Pop Art Mao Tse Tung. These people are really warped.
