McCain's Energy Policy Assailed by Obama
AZCONSERVATIVE ^ | 28 June 2008 | John Semmens

Posted on 06/28/2008 7:11:26 PM PDT by John Semmens

Democratic presidential contender Illinois Senator Barack Obama assailed Republican presidential candidate Arizona Senator John McCain's energy plans as "gimmicks."

“Senator McCain wants to fill your tank with gasoline,” Obama mocked. “I want to fill your heart with hope for a better, cleaner world.”

The Illinois senator claimed that high fuel prices “have given us a ‘window-of-opportunity’ to change the way we live. Senator McCain would us throw away this opportunity by taking actions that enable us to continue our addiction to the ways of the past—driving our cars wherever and whenever we want, cranking up the air conditioning in our homes, depending on electric appliances to do our work, staying up after sundown—this is the unnatural lifestyle we need to put behind us if we care about the fate of the planet.”

In related news, Cuba has reportedly made a deal with China to drill for oil off the coast of the Florida Keys—exposing American shores to the risk of environmental damage that the U.S. ban on off-shore drilling is meant to prevent. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) insisted this would not change her opposition to allowing U.S. firms to drill in this area. “We can’t be held responsible for what others do,” Pelosi said. “Even if there are oil spills from Chinese drilling, our hands will be clean. No one can blame us.”

This is not a note of agreement or disagreement, but another perspective of a highly controversial subject.

FIRST… do you know what ANWR is?

ANWR = Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Now a Comparison

And some perspective…

NOTE WHERE THE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT AREA IS…
(It's in the 'ANWR Coastal Plain')

THIS IS WHAT THE DEMOCRATS, LIBERALS AND 'GREENS' SHOW YOU WHEN THEY TALK ABOUT ANWR …and they are right… these ARE photographs of ANWR

ISN'T ANWR BEAUTIFUL?  WHY SHOULD WE DRILL HERE (AND DESTROY) THIS BEAUTIFUL PLACE?
WELL…THAT'S NOT EXACTLY THE TRUTH
Do you remember the map?
The map showed that the proposed drilling area is in the ANWR Coastal Plain.
Do those photographs look like a coastal plain to you?
WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?
The answer is simple...
THAT IS NOT WHERE THEY ARE WANTING TO DRILL!
THIS IS WHAT THE PROPOSED EXPLORATION AREA ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE IN THE WINTER

AND THIS IS WHAT IT ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE IN THE SUMMER

HERE ARE A COUPLE SCREEN SHOTS FROM GOOGLE EARTH

AS YOU CAN SEE, THE AREA WHERE THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT DRILLING IS A BARREN WASTELAND. OH… AND THEY SAY THAT THEY ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE EFFECT ON THE LOCAL WILDLIFE…HERE IS A PHOTO (SHOT DURING THE SUMMER) OF THE
'DEPLETED WILDLIFE' SITUATION CREATED BY DRILLING AROUND PRUDHOE BAY*…
DON'T YOU THINK THAT THE CARIBOU REALLY HATE THAT DRILLING?

HERE'S THAT SAME SPOT DURING THE WINTER.

HEY, THIS BEAR SEEMS TO REALLY HATE THE PIPELINE NEAR PRUDHOE BAY*…

*Prudhoe bay area accounts for 17% of U.S. domestic oil production
NOW, WHY DO YOU THINK THAT THE DEMOCRATS ARE LYING ABOUT ANWR?

REMEMBER WHEN AL GORE SAID THAT THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD WORK TO ARTIFICIALLY RAISE GAS PRICES TO $5.00 A GALLON?

WELL…

AL GORE AND HIS FELLOW DEMOCRATS HAVE ALMOST REACHED THEIR GOAL!

NOW THAT YOU KNOW THAT THE DEMOCRATS HAVE BEEN LYING, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?

YOU CAN START BY FORWARDING THIS TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW… SO THAT THEY WILL KNOW THE TRUTH.

LET'S START BY DUMPING THOSE LIBERAL POLITICIANS, WHETHER THEY BE DEMOCRATS OR REPUBLICANS...!

Yep, I’ve heard Obama say that instead of drilling, he will invest $150 billion in alternative energy. But he doesn’t say where he will get the money for that alt. energy research, nor does he really have a plan to transition away from oil and gasoline. Hydrogen fuel cell cars and windmills and geo-thermal power sounds wonderful, but we honestly don’t know if these technologies can be harnessed to meet our needs. Bottom line is that we’re still going to be running on gas and oil 20 years from now, so in the short term, have to deal with that fact, not our pie in the sky dreams.

Thanks for the photo presentation.

I could be wrong, but it seems to me the more Obama makes the argument we should get used to high energy prices and he opposes drilling and nuclear, that these will be seen as a losers argument.

“I want to fill your heart with hope for a better, cleaner world.”

Told my wife we won’t need any syrup for the stack of buckwheats and buttermilks on the breakfast table tomorrow.

Seriously, based on that vacuous, Candyland statement, what American over the age of 7, would vote for this empty-headed racist ass?

I suspect BHO is either hoping to bring our country down for “worldwide Social Justice”, or he just has “Hope” for a solution. I suspect the first option.

Hahaha... excellent.

The really sad thing is that you’ve merely reworded and clarified what he’s said. He’s said America is too comfortable, that we’re too privileged and that we should be put in our place. Most leftists would love to punish Americans by forcing them into living a harsh life.

That’s why the dems want to tax oil, push it out of reach while not seriously pushing realistic energy sources. The democrats have long decried collateral damage in war, yet they’re completely fine with the attrition rate as they push energy prices ever higher. I’m sure the leftists don’t mind their own suffering so long as some of their opposition does - and no matter the truth, they’ll point out the problems and being generated by their political opposition.

Ha!

Better pack a nice pair of walking shoes.

The Regular I burn in my evil SUVs has an octane of 87. “Hope” is around 0.00013.

Barak, you can keep the hope; I'd rather have a tankful of gasoline. Hope won't make my car go.
