Friday, June 5th marks the 5th Aniversary of Ronald Reagan's death.
No doubt!

In Pace Requiescat. Ronaldus Magnus
May his memory be eternal.
He will always be MY President.
I was driving home when I learned he had passed away.
I pulled over to the side of the road and cried.
Originally I supported George H.W. Bush because I did not think Reagan could win in the general election. I have never been more happy in my life to have been wrong.
Dittos . Too bad he succumbed to the pressure and picked Bush for VP , though .
” I supported George H.W. Bush “
Shame on you ! ; )
I have learned my lesson. No more Rhinos!!
I did go knocking door to door for Reagan. So I hope I atoned for my error at least partially.
The other day, when Mrs.Reagan was at a press conference with Obummer, I had an odd and unexpected reaction, I started crying. Not sobbing, but choked up, shed a few tears. I think it was the sight of seeing her all old and frail, being touched by a person who is the opposite of her departed husband. O was keeping her steady with her arm on his. This did not sit well with me.
I remember exactly what I was doing when I heard on the radio that Ronald Reagan was gone. That whole week of the state funeral was very moving. Finally, at the last televised event at the Reagan Library, when Mrs.Reagan would not leave the casket, that was it for me, I wept as if I had personally known them both. It still moves me to tears to remember their love for eachother.
Ronaldus Magnus, still my favorite president. My hero’s have always been cowboys. RIP Mr.President.
I still have Rush’s tribute to Reagan that was part of The Limbaugh Letter. It is stored with other sentimental treasures.
Two of the best!
I would also suggest the book of his love letters to Nancy. Priceless.
I still feel that way - he is still the best.
I have not yet read “My Turn”. I have “Ronnie and Nancy, A Very Special Love Story”. Also have “Reagan, In His Own Hand” a collection of his writings. I was in college when President Reagan was in office. I was not yet politically aware. I did like him though, he reminded me of my grandfather. President Reagan was easy to like. After his passing, I found the website for his presidential library. There are very nice casual photographs of President and Mrs.Reagan. I printed out a bunch of them. I have horses, and of course President Reagan did too. I especially like the pictures of him with his horses. I am glad he and I shared that love for horses. The website is www.reaganfoundation.org . There are lots of neat things to see there. I hope to visit the Reagan Library someday.

I forgive you .
BTW , I worked the phones as a volunteer for the Suffolk County Repubs in Blue Point , Long Island for the 1980 campaign . Very gratifying and rewarding experience . Really felt my humble effort made a difference .
yep...
I still have the entire video of the funeral on DVD. For just the shipping cost plus cost of the DVD’s. I did this for lots of freepers when the funeral was on TV. I don’t want any profit. Over 10 DVD’s.
I did hundreds of these...
I also feel very fortunate to have been here when President Reagan was in Office. I was a bit young to be involved with politics, and I regret not really appreciating him as he served. I do remember that the media at the time were not kind to him or Mrs.Reagan. Since starting my education at The Rush Limbaugh Institute 15 years ago, I have learned a lot about Reagan and a lot about the media. My BS Meter works fine thanks to Rush.
Thank you very much for sharing.
RIP.
Amen!
Your BS meter must be broken.
Most of the media sucks - screw them.
Exactly.
I second that. He must be spinning in his grave at an alarming rate...
FYI
“Your BS meter must be broken” Sorry, I must not have been clear in the other post. I had no media BS meter until I listened to Rush. Back in my college days(Rush was not on then) I noticed the bad treatment of the Reagans by the media but was not really aware that the media was a bunch of liars with agendas. Long after college I found Rush, 15 years ago, now thanks to Rush, I know all media is suspect and most is total BS. The Dinosaur Media Deathwatch continues, and they deserve to be extinct.
Thanks for starting this thread tonight. It’s been wonderful to share our memories of President Reagan.
No, no, I mean with everything that’s going on now, your BS must be broken - due to all the BS!
You’re welcome regarding the thread - please pass it on to friends and ping listers.
June 5 should be a day of happiness and love and celebration and reflection for RR.
My father’s brithday. How fitting. The two couldn’t have been more opposite in word and deed. One, a screaming liberal hypocrite who tried very hard to teach me all about the Democrats struggles for the poor working man, and another who made his way in the world by espousing and practicing, as best he could, conservative values.
I would say I wished to be RR’s own son, but we all know that doesn’t mean anything. Maybe I needed to witness liberal hypocracy first hand to see how deranged it truly is, so that I wouldn’t consider it for myself. After all, Reagan’s own namesake is such a waste of human skin. I’ll just say that the big man is missed. Having met him, in person, is one of the great memories of my life.
For my own father, I will wish him a happy brithday, and let him know that there’s still time to read a book and learn something.
God forgive me.
I remember the morning after the 1980 election. ABC news was on and My father arguing with my mother that Carter won. I was little and I could read the frigging map - I know who won. Thank God I take after Mom when it comes to politics.
Actually, I was exponentially sadder when RR died than when my father did. I do wonder if he (my father) was still around if he would like what his Democratic party has become.
You are privileged to have met the man. And I agree 1,000% with you - his kids with Nancy suck. I don't like her either, to be honest - she was against Ollie North when he ran for the US Senate. Those 2 kids though, just suck.
Thank you!
I see the "Reagan Diaries" is out, may not be newly out, but new to me. lol. He was such a great likable president, the best ever.
Ohhhh, I see! It was really late last night, I had brain fog! Thinking of President Reagan and Nancy today, celebrating his life and the gifts he gave to America with his talents that were on loan from God.
Thank you both!
