I don’t mean to give a short one word answer. There is just so much to come yet.
The new Panamanian president (Martinelli) is the first conservative (American type of conservatism) Panamanian president in my lifetime. He was sworn in on 1 July. As of yesterday, he is cleaning house of all the crooks that were on handouts of the crooks in the government.
He is passing a law which states any legislator who does not show up for work will not be paid for that day. He has also lowered salaries for the overpaid legislators. (They will still be living quite nicely.)
Properties of crooks that were in with the past zillion crooked governments and never paid their dues (we are talking zillions of dollars) will be taken over by the state for back taxes and resold to the private sector unless the crook(s) can come up with the money now. Martinelli has no interest in keeping them.

Gatun, thank you for your posts. I sure do have a better appreciation of Honduras now, thanks to strong Hondurans who refuse to go quietly. God bless all of you in this struggle.

I do to. Honduras is getting its act together as is Panama. While Obama is turning our country left, a few of these small countries are turning right.

We have our own Sarah Palin who won by 3-1. The difference between Sarah and Martinelli is he has never held a government job in his life. I need to stress that since the left, to include many on the right, seem to think Sarah needs to lay low until 2016 because of lack of experience. (And Obama had experience?) By that time, we won’t have a country left (right?). As is, our U.S. is nearly gone now. Martinelli ran because he has been angry for many years as the rest of us with the direction and pillage from crooks to include past president whose greed ravaged this country. (It sounds like our own country.)
Again, Martinelli is a multimillionaire owning many supermarkets (Supermercado 99). He didn’t need this job/headache. He just got truly fed up. He is a true patriot for any country.

Well Rev. Manning says Obama’s a long legged mack daddy half breed. But its likely BO doesn’t know where Tegucigalpa is. Simply geography is not important enough for the intellectual elite.
